‘Next Year in Baghdad’
An unrepentant Ahmad Chalabi celebrates his return with his neocon pals

Nov. 16, 2005

snip>
The onetime Iraqi exile leader, who has a fair chance of completing a stunning political comeback by being elected Iraq’s next prime minister in December, was unrepentant about his role in fomenting the Iraq war at a gathering of longtime friends and supporters in Washington on Tuesday night......

Chalabi’s speech was greeted with loud applause and a cry of “next year in Baghdad” from former CIA director James Woolsey, one of the Iraqi’s leading supporters. The gathering at the stately Washington home of lawyer Jeffrey Weiss and his lobbyist wife Juleanna Glover Weiss, two prominent Republicans, featured many early Chalabi supporters such as Woolsey, former Defense Policy Board chairman Richard Perle, Danielle Pletka of the American Enterprise Institute and author Christopher Hitchens.
....
In fact, for Chalabi’s Washington supporters, his return to the capital heading into the Dec. 15 election felt like sweet vindication. Many of these hawks had urged the Bush administration to install Chalabi quickly after the March 2003 invasion so that U.S. forces could depart and the time of occupation could be minimized......

5. How will he get Iraqi votes when he runs with this cabal of war hawks?
They're saying that things didn't go right after the invasion because Ahmed wasn't installed right away, but was resistance to that plan a primary element of the insurgency?

I think they're still delusional. It's like they don't have *quite* enough information yet to conclude that they're IDIOTS

3. "Next Year in Jerusalem"
Is a phrase commonly used in Judiasm... Me thinks Woolsey is trying to reuse it.

4. Yes, the great hope of the Diaspora...
...is transmuted in his mouth into the great hope of neo-con Diarrhea.

Keep repeating to yourself: there's no connection between Israel and the Iraq invasion. ;-)
