'Intersex' Fish Found Off Calif. Coast (& a lot of other places too)

Scientists have discovered sexually altered fish off the Southern California coast, raising concerns that treated sewage discharged into the ocean contains chemicals that can affect an animal's reproductive system.

So-called intersex animals are not new, but most previous instances were in freshwater. Environmentalists say this is among the first studies to document the effects in a marine environment.

1. Damn, the ocean is a pretty damn big pool of water. For contamination to
have such an effect in the ocean is downright scary.

2. Unless the fish in question
have their habitats near the refuse pipes. Most raw sewage sent into the ocean go out about 50 miles. So it may be just those fish within 200 miles or so. I say this like its no big deal.

Basically the earth is doomed. Let me rephrase: The Earth will be fine, sick for a while but healthy and green soon enough. Mankind will be 2 frames in her lifetime. Another 200 million years another species will make the same mistakes.

3. Ocean pollution is nothing new, but it is accellerating.
50 years ago Thor Heyerdahl, on the Tiki expeditions, noted globules of oil and tar in mid-ocean, no land for thousands of miles. This was, of course, shortly after WW2, when tens of thousands of ships were sunk, every one of them contributing to what was already leaching in from land. I don't recall anyone earlier ever worrying that the ocean itself could be endangered by man.

5. The specific chemicals
are hormone resembling in their interaction with body chemistry, already well documented on interior game and wildlife. But it never ever seems to rise to the logical level of doing much about said chemicals. Gone is the era when a logical reaction would be to put such chemicals under trial then a ban or strict regulation. Is this common or special industrial waste? Is it getting into humans? Does anyone in the corporate media have a brain function capable of thinking or caring?

The story, the studies, in essence are treating us as spectators at our own genocide.
