Two reasons Bush and the Republicans are in trouble.
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 04:55 PM by Tony_FLADEM
1. Conservatives have over-hyped tax cuts. It's as if they cut taxes and they wanted people to believe the GDP would grow at 10% per year, 2 million new jobs every month, the stock market at 15,000 and a significant increase in personal income.

That didn't happen. Taxes were cut and now people are saying now what?

2. There hasn't been a terror alert since the election. I really believe this helped Bush politically and there hasn't been one.

The reason Democrats are having trouble politically is because they we're so successful when they were in power and it's difficult for them to think of anything else to accomplish.

What do the Republicans want to do? Do they want to increase the debt by another 2.5 trillion? Do they want to pass another entitlement like the prescription drugs. They over sold the effect of tax cuts and there is nothing left to fall back on.

1. Are you
saying that another terriorists attack on the US would be GOOD
for the Republican party and bad for Democrats?.....so, then
why do we want to get out of Iraq and bring that to an end...
rather than let the kettle boil.?

2. I was following you for awhile.
Then you wrote this...

"The reason Democrats are having trouble politically is because they we're so successful when they were in power and it's difficult for them to think of anything else to accomplish."

In that case they ought to step aside and let the Greens in.

4. I don't mean it as a criticism.
I'm saying the Democrats have been so successful over the years in terms of Domestic policy that's why it's difficult for the Democrats to propose anything today. Doesn't mean the Democrats have outlived their usefulness - just need to develop new ideas and they will be successful like in the past.

The Republicans don't have any ideas. Just bumper sticker solutions that sound good.

6. I meant it as a criticism.
I certainly don't want to beat up Clinton, et. al. but, for grand instance, the gap between the rich and poor, and the destruction of the middle class proceeded under Clinton, albeit at a slower rate than under Reagan and the two Bushes.

And he didn't have much in the way of a great idea with regard to Iraq. It was but an eight year place-holder between two global menaces.

You see, the Democrats main thing is "Don't do that!" (what the Repukes are doing). And clearly they're right. Of course, it's hard to sell a negative.
