3. We're in for it.
I was just on the phone with a guy who's working in Hopkinsville-the sirens were going off.

I asked him why he was still talking on the phone-he said he couldn't go home anyway.

Screw that, I'm getting my ass home, the watch is until 9pm.

wow

Just got power back

We got hit bad

Not right in my neighborhood but NOAA was reporting tornados down all around me-I was just outside, my car's still there-too dark to see anything else

I toughed it out in the living room until I heard hail

Grabbed my stupid cats and got in the bathroom

They had other ideas

Herding cats, ha ha

Oops, be right back-they are still reporting them on the ground east and north of me.

I've only been near a tornado once, I was driving through the boonies of Wisconsin and there was a tornado warning right where I was driving. The sky had a green hue, I never saw anything though.

I can't imagine trying to corral cats with thunder and lighting overhead.

40. I was just outside talking to my neighbor
He went into town to check on his ex, there's a lot of damage.

The worst of it seems to be just north along my route to work.

Bowling Green had reports of 70 mile an hour straight line winds.

In this area there's lots of trees down, a tractor trailer got flipped, a lot of mobile home damage etc.

I hope that's it for tonight.

Way too close for comfort.

I am SO glad I had my NOAA radio with me when the power went out.

Everybody should have one.

48. It's always hard to get in touch with people after stuff like this
they could have gone to a neighbors or have a bunch of family calling.

I guess there isn't a huge need for those radios in Connecticut, though we did have a couple of small tornadoes near my uncle's house last year. I guess I'll let my 8 year old know that he's in charge of getting me up if there is a tornado or an earthquake. That's sounds like a quality plan, right?

56. The worst that can happen in a Nor'easter is you get stuck in your
house, as opposed to having roof getting pulled off.

Friends of mine in Vermont were telling me that they've already gotten a bunch of snow, well over a foot in one spot.

50. No, actually I agree with you.
Not about me being an idiot, but about the stupidity of criticizing New Orleans residents when Bubba moves right back into a new trailer every time a twister takes out the local mobile home park.

I actually kept reminding my coworkers of this double standard whenever they'd whine about "bailing out" NO residents.

Didn't make me very popular.

I had no idea how bad the bigotry was in this area.

The so called "educated" people are the worst.

They don't use the n-word in front of me anymore but they do talk around me or whisper if I'm in a bad mood.

Assholes.

At least in Vermont the bigots know better than to shoot off their mouths in public.

Down here, if you're white, they're shocked if you're not a racist.

And stunned if you tell them to STFU when they're spewing that shit.

They comfort themselves by blaming it on the fact I'm a liberal Yankee.

In other words, the old meme I would be like them if I was raised around here.

65. Glad you're okay
Called my mom, she was in line at the bank when the sirens went off, she had just enough time to get home before the tornadoes hit Earlington and the Country Club, and the north end of town (Madisonville) at Lowe's and moving to Ridgewood Terrace.

Everyone on their end is fine, there were a lot of injuries, they finally have power again, but they're not hurt, and so far, I've only heard about one fatality (better than a couple hundred).

She said things have really calmed down there since the storm has passed through.

Have things calmed down since the last time you posted? I hope you didn't sustain too much damage, or really, any at all. Keep us posted, please!

67. It's finally quiet here.
Temperature dropped about 30 degrees since this afternoon.
My trees are still here.
Most of my neighbors are spending the night with relatives in town.
Only one confirmed fatality in KY so far.

Thanks for asking, it's nice to know I've got people looking out for me.

69. YEA!!!
I am glad you're OK...who else would join me in taking over the board to bend it to our evil ways?!

As for the cats, I have almost trained mine to go into the bathroom when he hears the siren (they test once a month) or hears me screaming..."Bad Kitty! TORNADO! TORNADO!" At first he looked at me like I was nuts, now he just follows me to the bathroom. :)

Glad you are OK!!!!
