Did gas prices begin to drop right after the hearings?
Living in the city I don't drive al that often and so didn't notice that gas prices had dropped until some freeper claimed we should thank Shrub for it.

Well, freeper ramblings aside, I am wondering. With all the attention and media coverage on the high gas prices and price gouging by the oil companies and the congressional hearings and such....

Did all that cause the gas prices to begin to drop?

1. They bagan dropping a bit before the hearings.
I happen to think all the attention the high prices were getting, coupled with the hugh increase in profits that were announced at the end of the qtr. had some influence, but I also think the energy industry is planning on keeping those record profits up through their projected HIGH price of heating fuel and natural gas this winter! They're gonna getcha one way or the other!

2. Gas prices began dropping with Bush's tanking numbers -- which can
only mean he's in deep-shit and will go to any lenghts to stop his dwindling numbers -- The 2006 elections have the GOP quite uptight at this stage of the game.

Libby, Delay, Abramhoff all indicted isn't too encouraging...!

Bush goes to Virginia to back the governor and he ends up losing? , I know coincidence, but perhaps this country is finally getting fed up with this sociopath for a President!

4. It seems to me that prices began dropping when *'s numbers
dropped below 40%.

Just a coincidence, I'm sure.

5. Gas price crest broke with the Libby indictments, I think.
That's how I recall it, at least.
