My Analysis of O'Lielly's Actions - What do you Think?
O'Lielly has made repeated comments about how he would like to retire. But he knows if he just quits, his 15 minutes are up. He may be "popular" now, but he's smart enough to realize there are thousands of talking assholes just waiting to take his place.

His antics these days are outrageous, even for him. He's pushing the envelope as far as it can go...why? Because he wants to be forced out. Then he can play the role of long-suffering martyr. Just think...he'll be the darling of the freeps and the rest of the nutzoids...forever. He doesn't want to fade into oblivion. That's not good enough for Billy-boy. Billy-boy wants to be the frickin Jesus of talk radio. Nailed (metaphorically) to the crucifix by those radical fringe lefties. He'll milk that for all it's worth...for the rest of his hate-filled life.

1. who cares. As long as his microphone is off and he can't be heard
by so many, I don't care what his motive is for being so horrible right now. As long as he never gets near a tv, radio, internet site, as anything, but maybe in the news as a terrorist sympathizer, I don't care how much the freepers admire him...

2. Its hard to imagine what a lunatic like him wants to do
but your synopsis makes as much sense as any. I tend to think he could not possibly care less about liberals or conservatives, he just wants to stay in the news. If he thought it were possible to be the darling of the left, he'd make that work.

Awesome pic of Harry Reid.

3. I heard him once, on Fresh Air
It was obvious that the man is mentally ill. It was also obvious that he craved attention and wished to control the dialog on that program. I'm sure your analysis is correct, as being a "martyr" will merely feed his paranoia and delusions.

4. I agree, he's looking for attention & publicity
He wants us to hound him. I think it would drive him nuts if everybody just ignored him.

7. The most intelligent post I've seen on the subject so far-thanks!
This frenzy is EXACTLY what he wants.

Don't they say that bad publicity is better than no publicity?

If folks would jsut ignore it we would all be better off.

6. I Have a Different Analysis......

I think what you saw with his comments on San Fran is the real Bill O'Reilly, as in, what you see is what you get.

He was so mad he said what he really thinks, now he is trying to make excuses for what he said after the fact.

I know O'Reilly like a book, when he gets mad he says things he really feels, especially when he is on the radio, then later he spins an excuse for what he said and why he said it. What you heard on the radio factor when he made those comments was the real Bill O'Reilly, what you see now is the fake Independent Bill O'Reilly trying to claim it was a sarcastic riff.

O'Reilly is not going to retire anytime soon, bet on it, as long as he stays #1 he will not retire.

9. i agree with you...
what you see is what you get. he's totally insane, some kind of personality disorder. he tries to bully people on the air 'cause he knows he won't get punched in the mouth. maybe he was picked on when he was a kid, i don't know, but as long as he can make a buck, they'll have to drag him kicking and screaming away from his microphone.
