1. Ol' Dom...
Has just taken one for the team.

Next up: Cushy duty station and perhaps his name on the 5% list for Major. Maybe even a frocking.

2. In all fairness, his ratings did go up

But geez, this isn't the second coming of Christ. If we celebrated everytime Clinton's polls went up a few points after sinking a few we'd all be dead of alcohol poisoning.

I think this particular cause for joy is through Bush's term as illegal president, the only time his poll ratings ever went up was usually due to a national crisis or war. This is probably the first time since he was elected that he went up a few points for no real apparent reason.

go figure!

4. But he went down in 3 other polls and none were mentioned.
ABC/WaPost 53% down 1
Newsweek 53% down 1
Ipsos-Reid/Cook Political Report 51% down 4

Also CNN/Gallup did 2 polls unusually close together (less than 1 week - they usually poll every 2 weeks) which showed an upward trend which is getting alot of mileage.

11. I'm not disagreeing with what you said
I think my main point is that in ALL polls Bush's ratings never go up unless buildings are burning or countries are being invaded. For him to go up in any poll, even as skewed as they are, is pretty much a miracle.

Think about this - eliminate 9/11 and the war and when has Bush's ratings ever just gone up for the hell of it. I think that's the story the media should be talking about!!!

6. I Still Think Rove Will Come Up With A "Have Pity On Our Prezdent" Campaig
n.

right now they're trying their foot stomping tantrum strategery to get the sheep to believe the bombings, riots and raids (oh my!) are just liberal left wing spin.. rove knows he can't play that card very long. Enough the dumbest freepers will catch on.. So, he'll come up with a disease, or an accident, or something that will make all good patriotic 'murkins set aside their partisanship and support our great leader while he get's through his tragic time. blech..

It's like.. when you go to a movie and you see in the first 15 minutes what's gonna happen the rest of the movie. Predictable..

8. Believable, in the meantime
senators who wanted to see the situation in Iraq first hand can't get travel permission from the administration. Just take Bus*'s word that everything is peaches, don't need members of the opposition party verifying or anything.

Don't know about Bus* getting the actual disease. I say they kill off Luara or one of the twins. Someone expendable. Of course, in reality there is no one more expenedable than 43*, but we aren't talking reality here, huh?
