Terror Attack Simulated in sacramento today!

The biggest terror response exercise in California's history is underway this morning. Golden Guardian 2005 includes more than 2,500 police, firefighters and other first responders and is simulating a terror attack on some well-known local landmarks.

One example is Sacramento's Tower Bridge which will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. today. The Port of Sacramento may see some simulated explosions, as may the Roseville rail yards, and the K Street Mall, where an improvised explosive device or IED will be simulated.

The drill will be like a military simulation in some ways, testing command and control, communications, dealing with multiple threats and changing circumstances on a minute-by-minute basis. It will include many county hospitals around the state and a simulated chemical attack that will test that part of the state's emergency response system.

They would not want the normal services to look good, otherwise there'd be no need for martial law. Remember Katrina? they intentionally made Lousiana fail so they could come in with the military and "gitrdone" right.

Its doubtful they would sharpen the locals for the next mihop

edited to add: I realize this diverges from my earlier thinking, when that excercise was going to be in the carolinas, but Katrina changed my thinking.
