Bush's Destruction of America: By Incompetence or Design?
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 08:37 AM by leveymg
Many of us here at DU have concluded that Dubya is responsible for the string of expensive disasters that have been visited on this country since January 2001. Most of us assume, of course, that the debacles have happened because of utter incompetence of the President and his top advisors. But, isn't there another explanation that explains the events just as well, if not better?

Consider the possibility that this is part of a hostile takeover strategy. It follows a familiar corporate strategy: raider identifies a cash-cow for takeover; purchases a controlling interest with junk bonds; golden parachutes former management team; offshores production; lays off workforce; spins off profit centers; sells-off assets; declares bankruptcy; and, then, on to the next acquisitions target.

It can be done with countries, too. Is it inconceivable that this is just part a M&A strategy to liquidate the United States and transfer capital to higher-growth economies in Asia? What better way to hasten the process than a series of disasterous wars? Hasn't something like this happened with many overextended empires in the past, often with a helping hand from interested outside parties. Recall England, France, Austro-Hungary and Russia just before WWI.

We know that BushCo has long had an unusually close relationship with the Chinese and Saudis; the Bush management team has accelerated the liquidation and transfer of American assets.

By incompetence or design?

5. I hate to have to say it,
Hate like hell to have to say it, actually, but I agree, dicksteele.
I have also been saying it for a while now.

I have to admit, though, I've always thought it was at the behest of the Saudis. They have the oil, we have the military power, and best of all, the Bush's have been in bed with them for a very long time.

Who's to say they haven't dangled some carrot in front of the idiots nose? Some nice, big juicy carrot like, offering to let him remain 'King of the World' while they handle the financing???
He's just narcissistic enough to bite, if you ask me, and the Saudis are smart enough (hell, my goldfish is smart enough) to realize that he's too intellectually challenged to ever truly get in their way.

Just a scary little scenario that's been running around in my head for a few years now. :scared:

2. I agree it is by design
but I think the motive is not to liquidate but to turn the country into a United States of Wal*Mart. But somewhere in there, Moon sure has a role.

10. By design.
Everyone agrees that the neocons aren't stupid. Yet we've seen so many apparent missteps and idiocy by the GOP strategists that it must be by design. 9/11 was the Pearl Harbor event that PNAC was looking for. Bush's entire 2004 campaign was based upon keeping America in fear. Therefore, Iraq has become THE breeding ground for terrorists.

It's no coincidence that some of the Jordan bombers spent time in US-controlled Abu Ghraib.

12. Design, they are anarchists
who hate government and their ultimate goal is to destabilize the US.

Just look at the Bush boys. The only way they've ever made money in their lives is by going bankrupt. It's an art form in that family.

15. Extraordinary competence in the design, but incompetence in execution,
particularly in governance in the transfer period. An excellent analogy depicting the many disasters the neocons have wrought on us by design, but tens of millions of our citizenry still don't get it.

22. this happens to declining empires
As the resources, including brains, go and other nations/peoples rise to take your place, the wealthy of the society start looting what's left to position themselves to stay big fish in a smaller pond.

23. Incompetently by design
The administration seeks to remake this country into a fascist theocracy. The actively pursue a one-party rule system in which any dissent is considered unpatriotic (that part is irrefutable).
My only hope is that their own incompetence will foil the realization of their grand design.

24. BushCo's regime is playing out plans laid out years ago, but I don't
know if his incompetency and foul-ups are screwing up these plans or helping them. Maybe the idea is to fuck with people's minds so badly that when martial law is put into place, people will just be numb.
