So what should be the Democratic Vision presented by Dean in 06'?
My two cents:

I say Dems do a contract to restore America with at least these issues highlighted in the contract:

1. Election Reform - Election Machines with paper ballots or at least a paper trail.
2. A clear plan with deadlines to start drawing down the troops and preparing Iraq to to take over defense of their own country.
3. Repeal the tax cut for the wealthy to get a handle on the defect.
4. Closing loopholes that aid in Corporate Welfare
5. A clear plan on how to become Energy independent and getting tough with Oil companies taking advantage of the consumer.
6. Real science based environmental policies leaning toward caution not profit. Human Health, not big business. Conservation not greed.
7. Rebuild Americans reputation around the world
8. Dean is already homing in on "honesty" and combining it with policy will seal the deal. (ideas?)
9. Health care reform. At least cut the number of uninsured in half .
10. Fighting terrorism cell by cell not by attacking countries.
11. A real plan on protecting the borders and slowing illegal immigration.
12. A responsible tax plan much like Clinton's with targeted tax cuts where the economy is weakest and helping certain industries that needs a boost.
13. Changing the wording on Abortion from Pro-Choice to Pro-Privacy and Pro-Life to Anti-Privacy with a return to Clinton's discription of Safe, Legal and Rare.

What do you think should be on or off the list?

2. Back in October......
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 01:08 AM by kevinmc
the DCCC sent me a Survey with 10 Sections with multiple questions in each section and asked to rank each one.

The Survey was called "Democratic Agenda Survey"

I think that is what they are going to be working off of.

The sections where

SSI

It had a tabulation deadline of Oct.31, 2005

5. Marriage should be
across the board for everyone. there are too many government perks and involvement in "marriage" that is denied to gay's. this is segregation, bigotry and prejudice.

marriage has found it's way out of the church and into u.s. law and it is only fair, equal and just that gays should be given the right to "marriage" just as straights have. nobody says that you have invite gays into a church or give them a religious ceremony in a church, but they should be given the exact same rights and same stature as straights. until then, we will still remain a segregated country.

btw...i am not gay or bi, but i believe in equality. 2 gays getting married isn't going to have an affect on my life, but it will make gay couples happier and thats what it is all about.

6. single payer national health care
single payer national health care

It's what Americans on BOTH sides of the red/blue line want. A clear plan HAS to be an election issue.
