Teen killer in PA had a blog
Anderson Cooper just talked about this kid's blog and his girlfriend (the daughter of the murdered couple) also had a blog. Anderson said both blog sites indicate these kids were very religious.

Anyone know how to find these blogs? I tried googling both names but came up with nothing.

3. Seems nobody keeps a paper diary with a little lock anymore...
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 12:14 AM by Dunvegan
David Ludwig still has (as of 8:45 p.m. PST, 11/14) a MySpace blog here:

http://www.myspace.com/haydren

His MySpace blog is not restricted for posting, and people are still posting to it.

Here's Ludwig's Xanga blog (lots of pictures of his new computer and his bedroom):

http://www.xanga.com/Haydren

There are 79 pictures of him he posted here:

http://www.picturetrail.com/haydren

And here's Kara Beth's blog at MySpace (her blog requires she register you to post):

http://www.myspace.com/meantxtoxlive

And then, there's this more slowly diabolical case involving a blog and a young girl:

Teen blogged mother's slow poisoning
News.Com.Au in Tokyo
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,17135976-2,00.html
November 04, 2005

A JAPANESE high school girl has been arrested for gradually poisoning her mother to the brink of death and keeping a blog of her progress - all done as a grim homage to a serial killer she idolised.
The 16-year-old student is alleged to have laced her mother's food with increasing doses of thallium, a potent rat poison. Her mother is now in a coma and critically ill.

The girl, who is from rural Shizuoka, in central Japan, was apparently inspired by Briton Graham Young, the notorious Teacup Poisoner of Bovingdon who, in 1962, aged 14, slowly killed his stepmother with what was thought to be the same lethal substance.

Asked by the compilers of her school yearbook to identify the historical figure she admired the most, she named Young.

...once upon a time you wrote this stuff in your diary.

It's just now your diary can be read by anyone in the entire world.

(Edited to add second blog.)

45. We weren't into religion either
but there were a few kids in high school that were really devout.

It seemed weird at the time because they could do some things like drinking but others were off limits, like smoking.

I think they molded their beliefs to fit their life.

That's probably what these kids did when they wanted to do something "bad".

Religion didn't get in their way, they just found a way to justify it.

Hell, adults do the same thing.

47. When I was a kid even the adults weren't that religious
not like these fundies we have today. I didn't know anyone like that and I grew up in a very devout Catholic family. We were also very liberal. My uncle is a priest and he was the most liberal adult I knew when I was a kid. He actually believed gays were born that way and that it was God's will that we should help the poor.

She was a total nutcase.

Also from Pennsylvania, as a matter of fact.

I really think this kid wasn't as religious as the girl was.

He probably figured it was the only way her parents would let him see her.

She seems like she was easily impressed-probably because she was sheltered.

40. Not all blogs reflect what is happening with kids' lives

I have a teen relative that has one and she is always chipper and care free on it..if you didn't know her you would never know that her father is a short tempered control freak, that he got laid off recently, that the mother at one point was working 2 jobs just to makes ends meet..the family problem list goes on and on..but, like I said, her Xanga doesn't reflect any of their household issues.

Plus..with Xanga people can do private posts that only a selected handful can see. There are public and private posts, we only are seeing the public ones. I learned that from my kids' Xanga sites.. also, if you have the person's password you can log on and see both types of posts.

I noticed that neither of them mentions the other in their blog entries, but they obviously knew each other and were reportedly going out. Not having any entries about or to each other may also indicate that they both chose to leave a chunk of their private lives off their sites.

David, you are a victim. Rev Pat Robertson tried to warn you last week. If the people in Dover had not voted those God fearing members off of their school board, you would never have taken that gun and killed Kara's parents.

I hope the people of Dover are asking for God's forgiveness today. And please know that you were chosen by Him to bring His message to Pennsylvania.

God Bless You.

52. It is a tragic case.
Obviously, the media will play it up in a number of ways, and a couple may even get close to the truth of what happened.

It reminds me of a local case that took place in New Berlin, a small town in Chenango County in rural, upstate New York. On October 20, 1992, a 14 year old named April Dell'olio stabbed her boyfriend, 17 year old David Eccleston, to death. She used a kitchen "steak" knife to stab him approximately 25 times in the chest and back while on their morning walk to school.

The case allowed area adults an "open window" on the secret life of young people. While David was a star high school athlete, and going to get scholarships for college, and April was by all appearances the reincarnation of little Miss Eva from Uncle Tom's Cabin, there was the hidden culture of teens, which defense attorneys would play up to the jury to prove, as it were, that young David deserved to be killed in such a manner.

April was found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. She was determined to have suffered from a "brief reactive psychosis," resultiing from her belief that David was going to break up with her. Because no one -- prosecutor of defense -- argued that she was still insane, April got off with absolutely no consequences.

I had worked, over the years, with the judge, prosecutor, and defense attorneys involved. I'm friends with two of them. They were all shocked by the verdict. The judge said it was as if he were handcuffed from doing anything beyond saying, "Well, April had a bad hair day."

Lost in the entire episode, beside the life of a boy and the suffering of his family and friends, was any examination of why a 14 year old would think that stabbing a human being to death was a good choice for resolving conflict. And, truth be known, 14 year old girls do not simnply develop skills in violence in a vacuum.
