Do not drink a hot beverage while reading this
Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 09:05 PM by brentspeak
(I don't want to get sued for causing someone's throat to be burned due their snarfing) ;-)

From the inside flap of Ronald Kessler's puff-piece 2004 biography of George W.Bush:

"Honesty. Integrity. Character of purpose. These are the qualities that Ronald Kessler, author of the New York Times bestseller, Inside The White House, discovered while investigating our current president who is so scrutinized - and criticized - at home and around our world...

...And some of Bush's closest friends reveal how down-to-earth he has remained since his middle-class boyhood in West Texas."

   :wow: :wow:

10. That is some picture they chose for the front cover of
the book. Does it look slanted to you? Or that the windows are spinning behind him at an odd angle? Very odd choice IMO yet fitting knowing that he is cracking up now due to his addictions.

Middle-class? Not like grandpa made his fortune selling guns to the Nazis or Poppy was an oilman.

21. They wanted a photo of a "resolute" Bush
Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 09:13 PM by brentspeak
Standing in a Mt.Rushmore-like pose. And it's a very strange "biography", to say the least: 1/5 of the book is spent bashing John Kerry, with another 1/5 bashing other Democrats. This book was just a paid-to-order puff piece/partisan hack job. Kessler is quite a soulless individual.

And as for content, what else could it be about it? This is technically his second job, right?

20. Is that anything like O'Really?'s "working-class" boyhood?
which was, in fact, middle-class.

How rich does a repuke have to be before he'll admit he's rich? Trump, perhaps? Funny, I always thought repukes were in favor of being rich... just not of seeming like it, I guess.

"For this book, I was able to interview all the major players — Karl Rove, Andy Card, Condi Rice, Al Gonzales — as well as close friends from Andover and Yale and aides who are not well known but are just as influential in their own spheres as the more well-known figures."

40. That's "middle class oilman's son's boyhood," sir
I'm certain there are Texas oilmen who make more money than Poppy Bush ever did out on the patch, and there are Texas oilmen who made less than he did, so therefore since Poppy's brood was in the middle of the salary range for Texas oilmen, obviously his sons would have had a middle-class upbringing.

Okay, never mind the fact that the tuition at the private school Bush slept through is more than I make in a year, or that he's a legacy at Yale...
