McCain is a prevaricator and
he always leaves himself enough room to defend Bush.

HAGEL ISN’T THE ONLY REPUBLICAN WHO AGREES WITH DEMOCRATS THAT PHASE TWO PROBE IS ESSENTIAL…

Shelby: “Incumbent” On Senate Committee To Investigate Prewar Intelligence. Last week, Sen. Richard Shelby said, “I believe it's incumbent upon the Senate Intelligence Committee to look at the use and alleged misuse of intelligence and how it's done…it's a proper inquiry.”

McCain: Need “Thorough and Complete Investigation” Into Prewar Intelligence Failures. Last year, Sen. McCain said, “It's obvious to one and all that there have been intelligence failures…Why? What circumstances? Nobody knows. That's why we need a thorough and complete investigation.”

Allen: Phase Two Is Important To Future Decision-Making. Last Sunday, George Allen said, “we'll do all this Monday morning quarterbacking, which is important, to make sure that we do have better information, better intelligence, so we make the right decisions in the future.” Pressed about the President and former Secretary of State arguing about strong links between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaida after a classified memo suggested there was no link, Allen said, “That's what this phase two of this investigation in the Intelligence Committee will hopefully glean how that could happen.”

Roberts: Need to “Look in the Mirror” and Determine Problems With Prewar Intelligence. Last year, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Sen. Pat Roberts said, “To say that 'we get it' and then imply that the problems with the intelligence community's WMD assessments were reasonable 'at the time,' or to state that the problems with the prewar Iraq assessments were isolated 'shortcomings,' says to me that there are still those that don't 'get it.'” Roberts added, “We need fresh thinking and a willingness to look in the mirror.”
