righties make a lot of jokes about sending liberals to concentration camps

i've seen it all over the internetS, in chat rooms and various places, they crack jokes, for lack of a better term, about sending liberals to gitmo to be straightened out, or subjected to the various frat pranks seen in the abu ghraib photos.

on the surface these jokes seem harmless, but the ugly truth is, if it got right down to it, they'd be more than happy to actually round us up and, well, you know the scenario.

their little gitmo jokes reveal the truth about them, they think it's funny to torture those who don't look, act, or vote like them.

3. Some of us made a lot of threats and jokes about interning RW'ers

in concentration camps on the old Michael Reagan forum board back in the 90's when Clinton was still president. We especially ratched it up during the Y2K scare and said it would probably necessary to keep order. I really think a few of them weren't real sure we weren't correct.

7. They think it's so damn funny because....

...they consider us to be a bunch of limp-wrist weenies who piss themselves at the sight of something as "manly" as a firearm.

In my Youth I shot "Expert" with a rifle and "Marksman" with a handgun. The eyes aren't as sharp, but the hand is still steady.

And, get this: I've heard it from College Rethugs. Males, age 18-24, who were not in the military, who had never served in the military, and who very much support the war.


EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't mean that they said we should be protesting the war in Iraq, trying to stop it. They actually say that since we protest the war, we should be drafted and force to serve in the military in Iraq.

The rednecks with the hats aren't much different from today's wingnuts. And I honestly believe that if a new supreme court wipes out the civil rights laws, we'll see photos like this again.

These thugs haven't gone away. They just became rural Republicans and are waiting for the "all clear" signal. Need proof of that statement? Just go back to Trent Lott praising good ole' Strum Thurmond as the guy who should have been elected president back in 1948.

And for anyone who says, "The south was a bastion of the Democratic Party", you're right. But when Lyndon Johnson got the civil rights act enacted, they all became Republicans. That's why today's south is solidly red states.

When Johnson signed the act into law, he said: "This will cost us the south for generations to come." But whatever title you put on them, a bigot, is a bigot, is a bigot.
