it's like lady liberty is being beaten and raped by a gang of vicious thugs and the american people are walking by deliberately ignoring her pleas for help, too busy, too occupied, too tired, to offer her any help, deaf to her screams.

if it were you mother or your sister, would you try to help her?

1. No...
it's like WE're being raped and the rest of the world is just walking by and ignoring it.

This nation isn't some external entity. It is us.

Honestly though, what is happening to America (and Americans) is more like spousal abuse, than rape.

Rape is more inflammatory, yes, but spousal abuse is the more accurate description.

2. maybe it's our fault
maybe we haven't been very good spouses lately and we deserve to be slapped around and beaten occassionally. maybe we should be better and this won't happen again.

5. I'm sure if we ask George
that would be the response.

Of course, that's a given since NOTHING is ever his fault. :eyes;

6. Clayton Williams, 1990 TX Republican candidate for governor.
Several weeks later, Williams made an infamous joke to reporters, likening bad weather to rape, quipping, "as long as it's inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it."
