Guys, I got on WJ on CSPAN this morning for the first time.
On the question of bailing out the auto industry. I said that we've been told to let the markets work and when corporations keep doing the same thing and fail we are expected to rescue them rather than let them deal with the consequences of their poor management decisions.

I was so nervous.

1. Congratulations Skidmore
The truth is so simple when we get the chance to tell it. It's weird how repukes are disgusted by Welfare mothers but all sympathy for corporate welfare.

4. Steve just thanked me for calling.
A later caller said essentially the same thing and tied it in more directly with free trade. I didn't get that far. Next time I'll do better and focus less on being nervous.

6. Sorry I missed that !
Very well said and should be part of everybody's 2006 campaign stump speech!

That goes for the whiney airline industry too. My neighbor was laid off from USAIR while the CEO got a 22 million dollar bonus that year.

Maybe we should start outsourcing CEO's !

car makers are thieves, stealing from their own workers and ripping off buyers.

9. I have to disagree
U.S. automakers are some of the best paid blue-collar workers on the planet. Many many southeastern Michigan cities were built by the dollars earned by these automakers. The rate of homeownership for autoworkers is much higher than for factory workers in general.
They also enjoy one of the best medical and pension plans on the planet.
No, the autoworkers have not been ripped off by their employers. It's those that aren't making the same wages and benefits that are being ripped off.

10. didn't you hear the callers saying they would lose their pensions and

health care. and have you heard they want to reduce all pay as it's too high for the corps.

8. Good going! I got on once and was surprised at how nervous
I felt because I talk to audiences pretty frequently. It was kind of funny really.

Nice work! :hi:
