Jarhead....Hoo-rah! (if you saw the movie)
A point of disagreement w/me and my husband:

He believes Jamie Fox's character (especially in one of the last scenes) was sarcastic in reference to his pro-military attitude and involvement in the Marines

I believe it was a genuine attitude & the result of a couple of decades of mental conditioning which leads one from independent thought & inclined to group-think

What do you think?

2. Oh it's genuine.
They get their nougat dipped and their caramel swirled at the candy factory. It is why so many voted for Bush.

3. Totally agree with you
I saw it today; those guys are totally and completely brainwashed, it's very much like cult conditioning. Explains why today so many of the soldiers in Iraq are pro-Bush and love the war, doesn't it?

4. Genuine. I thought it was sarcasm, but then he suddenly got real
about it. I just saw it last night. I thought it was great really... thought it could have done a little more to allude to the stupidity of the war now, but it had those moments too... I didn't like the very very ending, but i did like the "we are still in the desert"

got that right.

but no one asked for my movie review did they... k.. i shut up now

5. Yeah & that disgusting scene in which they were fighting over
the ability to score a 'kill'. My god, how disgusting!

I am beginning to see my country and the world in general in an entirely different light.

6. The #1 Overriding Image: O-I-L
The wells burning, the wasteland, the contamination, the oil-drenched horse. It all said, it's all about oil.

Well, that's for B.F.E.E. Cartel War One. Shrub War Two is, too, but has the "Crusade"/jihad element, same as it has been for a thousand years
