Jay Rockefellers statement today after hearings
I haven't seen a thread yet on the statements Rockefeller made today after the close door hearing with Tenent. Did anyone else see him on CNN? What struck me the most was how carefully he choose his words and said that there was ALOT of material and information given today. I think he even went so far to say that this was not over and much more would be found out. Am I right, did others hear this?

B-)

1. I saw it, he looked a bit shellshocked
Almost like he was trying to absorb the amount of stuff he heard.

3. Excuse me for being shell shocked
but can someone indicate a direction this is headed? E.g: did Jay hear absolving or more condemning evidence?

5. From the reactions of the Dems and GOPers on the committee...
...I'd say damning. Witness the party line vote to block investigation. The GOP has sunk its whole kit and kaboodle, their credibility, all their funds, the stewardship of the party, the whole ball game, and they've tied it around the Bush-Cheney albatross. If they go, many of them are going to have an awful time keeping their jobs. And with many being elected solely based on their promise to be Bush "yes men" (Talent, Coleman, Dole), they can't be too comfy...

6. I seen it too....I don't trust Pat Roberts..
Rockefeller seemed to be leaning toward the idea that this goes deeper than just the President saying those "16 words". It goes deeper than just George Tenet. My money is on Dick Cheney.

Cheney made frequent visits to CIA. Ex-CIA analyst says this was never done before and was extrememly out of protocol. An attempt by the VP to pressure the intell people into skewing the intel towards what the administration wanted to hear to justify their phony war.

They ALL need to be thrown in jail.

7. This thing has Cheney's fingerprints ALL over it.
I generally don't have strong gut instincts about things, but I really do in this situation.

Cheney is laying low and hiding for a reason.

14. it's outrageous...
....that this information is being kept from the American people. This is a worse crime than Watergate. Why was today's hearing closed?

16. good question- here's THE answer
I could say: "Power" but that needs a little elaboration.
It mainly is about power and influence. And the influence is basically about spreading the wealth. Yeah, Cheney is swimming in doe, but he can spread it around - scratch other people's backs for future favors- never know- he might need to get out of another DUI (snicker).

Also, believe it or not, they actually BELEIEV what they are doing is right. Remember, Bush is a born-again, and Cheney's been working in politics MOST of his life. So they also want political power, maybe a bit of history- something for the grandkids to brag about.

But it is mainly about power. They may even "get off" on it too. :puke:
