We Democrats (and anti-Bush people) have digested A LOT this week
We should feel very elated that the truth about Bush is finally being reported by the mainstream media. The lies about uranium, the casualties in Iraq, military people and parents coming out in protest of war, the Goree Island manipulation, and the startlingly high deficit.

I want DUers to consider the past week and respond.
Has the tide truly changed?
Will America's right-turn soon hit a dead end?
Will conservatives admit that they have supported a corrupt presidency?
Is there hope for a Democratic Senate/House in the next election?

Finally, will Bush be held accountable for his lies?

Has America awaken or is it still sleepwalking?

1. Its a slow process.
It took a long time to end Viet Nam. We used to sit
and eat dinner and watch the news. They always ended
the war segment with a body count for the day or week.
It won't take that long now. The people who will
erupt will be those like me who remember that.

But it will take time. It's already begun.

6. I was against Vietnam in 1962
For 5 years, it seemed that the best we could do was the silent vigils with the Quakers. Crowds, even on college campuses, were very, very slow to build.

Fast forward to last fall. Millions of people were in the streets, making it known that they were against this latest military folly, which hadn't even started yet! Millions. It took years for anything approaching those numbers to be seen in the 1960s.

Yes, it's begun. Now it's up to us to pursue the strategy of "each one teach one." Make sure your computer phobic friends and acquaintances know what's really been going on. Alert your computer savvy but apolitical friends to sites like Buzzflash.

Our opposition are thugs, bullies, cheats, frauds, and liars. They can win only in the short term. We have the advantage. Use it.

2. It feels that way so far.
I still think though that more will come in terms of the revelations that will come out.

We won't see what's coming but then again I don't think anyone will.

3. answers
Has the tide truly changed? No, but the water is ickier, as expected when oil and blood spill.

Will America's right-turn soon hit a dead end? No, because America lost its willingness for self-examination and critical self-analyis long ago. As Reagan exploited, we want to FEEL GOOD ABOUT OURSELVES. War is the balm for the masses in a pained post-911 landscape. We are talking about people who by and large embrace a national anthem full of war imagery. We have escapist unreality shows to soothe us in our bondage. Like Winston in "1984", we love Big Brother. God Bless America, Britney isn't a virgin after all, Earl!

Will conservatives admit that they have supported a corrupt presidency? Have conservatives EVER admitted to being wrong? Watch the rationalizations and denial pile up like so many dirty undies. Watch them get away with it.

Is there hope for a Democratic Senate/House in the next election? My 8 Ball says "It is not likely".

Finally, will Bush be held accountable for his lies? See my response from two questions ago. :-)

Has America awaken or is it still sleepwalking? Sleepwalking. We showed signs of waking up in the 90's after sleepwalking in the 80's under Reagan and Bush. We were shocked back to sleep, where we are safe. The rest of us are stuck in a nightmare.

4. I am cautiously optimistic
President Cheney is verrrrry powerful. I wouldn't put anything past him, no matter how nefarious or deadly the consequences.

It troubles me that they are STILL confident enough to trot Blair out in front of Congress to STILL insist there is other corroborating evidence to prove the Niger connection. I don't believe it, but what do they have up their sleeve? That they are just arrogant enough that will just never have proove it?

Tha arrogance of these crooks is just staggaring.

Or is it desperation now?
