A Few Months On, Who Is Watching Current?
I have to say, I have been watching Current, and I find it fascinating.

Real investigative video journalism, bringing us stories we might never hear about otherwise.

Whether it's on the scene reports from New Orleans in the wake of Katrina, trips to Haiti to bear witness firsthand to starving people (who still seem fairly happy), or the rise of poetry slam contests, Current is far more entertaining and interesting than the major news networks.

It's styled like late 80's/early 90's MTV, only minus the shows and the videos. People who grew up in this time will remember MTV's Choose or Lose campaigns which were a big factor in encouraging youth vote and giving a boost to President Clinton's election in 1992.

If you don't like what's on, wait five minutes and it will change.

I can't recommend it enough.

3. I do too.
It is soooo much more entertaining than other things.

The pod format, which is basically 5 minute-average reports, ensures that it never gets boring.

Basically, it's like reality television, without the lame setups...like documentary in miniature.

4. I can't get it as far as I know.
I have the top of the line service with my TV cable company, but with a choice of 800 channels, Current isn't one of them.

6. That's lame. I encourage you to ask for it.
It's on DirectTV, thankfully.

9. I did! The answer was "We're always working on improving our
chanel lineup, and we'll notify you when we make any changes."

I've considered satellite TV, but I have several neighbors who have it and they lose their signal every time there's a storm. I sure don't want that!

7. I'd ask for it from them too.
DirecTV has it, and they don't seem to do exclusive deals, as they both share several channels. Can't hurt to request that they carry it.

15. Google News generally comes on at the top of the hour.
The rest is brief 5-minute or so mini-documentaries.

20. That's awesome, I only watch it every coupla days.
I find that I end up seeing repeat pods if I watch too often.

21. Well, I do switch when a repeat comes on.
I watch alot of the later timeslots. Mr. blm works in a newsroom so he works very late to get the paper out, and I don't want to go to sleep without him there.

13. Very occasionally
Still miss NWI - I do like it when I do see it - but never make a point to watch. Just drop in when notheing else is on that appeals to me.

Don't like the name of the channel for some reason but can't thinnk of anything else.

18. No, I prefer internet podcasts which are available through RSS
and can be watched exactly when I want, with what I want.

I don't want entertainment, I want liberal news. And I'm sorry that Gore decided not to go after tha market.

19. It is liberal, but in a roundabout way.
It is youth news, which skews liberal by nature. And the Google News segments are all from a liberal standpoint.

But the reporting in it is all very intelligent, and caters to someone who generally fits a liberal profile...reporting on random things, not drawing conclusions for the viewer, showing global poverty, etc.
