1. santos' plan for everyone to be covered by medicare

is not a good idea. the medicare part B premiums for 2005 are $78.20 a month -- going up to $88.50 in 2006. this is deducted out of your social security check.

so it would be affordable for some and the very poor would be eligible for medicaid, but there would still be those in-between who would go without coverage.

national health care is the way to go, but not with premiums paid by the people. it has to be picked up by the government which would probably result in higher taxes. that would be fine with me and the in-between people -- if they're working would be covered because their taxes would not be that high.

also medicare part b does not cover everything. most people take out a supplemental insurance policy which is quite costly too.
