Democrats should not read too much into results of today's elections...
In New Jersey, Corzine has a lot of character questions tossed into his run for Governor. He may win in a squeaker. In Virginia, the Democrat is following a very successful Governor Warner, which is the best card he is holding. Republicans usually win or run very close in Virgina. In California, they are always unpredictable. They voted Arnold in the last time with a landslide. Will they vote against all the issues he is pushing this time, like re-drawing the boundary lines for Congressional Districts in the middle of decade?

1. Democrats
are not heavily "invested" in this election.

We haven't yet manned the barricades like we will in '06. In some regards we have been hiding in the bushes (no pun intended) in this election and saving our resources for '06. I pretty much agree with that tactic.

My only fear about that tactic is that even the most minute Repub victory will be touted by the press as either:

1. A Bush "comeback"
or
2. A sign of the weakness of the Democratic party.

Will observe with interest.

2. You are correct...
They are primed to portray this as a "Bush" comeback.

4. I'm sure the media will potray it as such, if given the opportunity
but in reality, it would be using a band-aid when a tourniquet is needed. Smirky would like to think he's going to make a comeback to where he was last December but I just don't see that happening, thank God.

5. I don't need this 'election' to see a
"sign of the weakness of the Democratic party"

Complicit, panzy-assed enablers.

6. How bout if Dems read "enough" into the results instead? :)
I'm very hopeful, almost to the point of being very confident.
Here in VA the goppers shot their mutant wad by having bush appear with Kilgore last night. According to recent polls in VA however, a majority of people would hold it against a repub candidate if they were seen with bush.
The most worrisome to me is the get-out-the-vote power of Kilgore's connection with evangelicals.
As of last night, Kaine was 3 points ahead - statistically a dead heat.
But I'm still very hopeful.
I wonder if the Elton John concert in Richmond tonight will have any effect. (other than causing parking problems) :)

7. I'm perfectly willing
to SPIN any Democratic win as a sign that Bush* is toast, the Republican party has been rejected by the voters, etc, etc....

Truth doesn't actually have anything to do with public perception

8. Hell yeah. :)
Plus, I don't see anything hasty about claiming there is a trend away from the immediately post-911 ignorant patriotism, and citing a good thrashing in a few key gov races as evidence for that trend.

10. I'd think he will be. The MSM shouldn't have a hard time figuring
out how to interpret a strong Dem showing today. :)
