Bush on Kilgore
"The thing I like about this fellow is he grew up on a farm," Bush said in a brief stop on his return from a South American trade mission. "He doesn't have a lot of fancy airs."

Well, that's a glowing endorsement of the guy. It's great that whether someone has fancy airs is the most pressing issue of these trying times.

Maybe someday I, like Bush, can afford to go to Yale and Harvard and not have a lot of fancy airs.

3. I hate to say this..
.. but a lotta people voted for Bush because he was such a hick, in spite of his elitist background. He came across as stupid and whiteass like them. ugh

I'll take elite if the person is for the people... Roosevelt... Kennedy...

11. I dream of a day when our president doesn't talk down to us.
At least not as much.
I know we used to have it. I vaguely remember large words being used by people in charge.

"fancy airs." Oh god. When I hear that, this little vignette pops into my fancy noggin:

"Look Ma--there goes old Jane Pippin, gettin' a latte and a bagel. Too good for donuts?"

"Yeah Pa, she's got those fancy airs about her, aina?"

:banghead:

I mean, does he think we're all frickin' cartoon characters or what?
I can't believe we have three more years of this shit.

12. Republicans have a thing for farms.
Bizarre Sex Habits of The Extreme Right-Wing
Last night, anti-abortion extremist Neal Horsley was a guest on The Alan Colmes Show, a FOX News radio program. The topic was an interesting one - whether or not an internet service provider should allow Horsley to post the names of abortion doctors on his website. Horsley does that as a way of targeting them and one doctor has been killed. In the course of the interview, however, Colmes asked Horsley about his background, including a statement that he had admitted to engaging in homosexual and bestiality sex.

At first, Horsley laughed and said, "Just because it's printed in the media, people jump to believe it."

"Is it true?" Colmes asked.

"Hey, Alan, if you want to accuse me of having sex when I was a fool, I did everything that crossed my mind that looked like I..."

AC: "You had sex with animals?"

NH: "Absolutely. I was a fool. When you grow up on a farm in Georgia, your first girlfriend is a mule."

AC: "I'm not so sure that that is so."

NH: "You didn't grow up on a farm in Georgia, did you?"

AC: "Are you suggesting that everybody who grows up on a farm in Georgia has a mule as a girlfriend?"

NH: It has historically been the case. You people are so far removed from the reality... Welcome to domestic life on the farm..."
