Swift Boat Vets Back, Slandering Sanders

In a breathless, frightening, foaming-at-the-mouth diatribe on the right-wing fringe site Newsmax, John O'Neill - the leader of the slanderous Swift Boat Veterans for Truth - said his group is targeting Vermont Independent Congressman Bernie Sanders for defeat in Vermont's upcoming U.S. Senate race.

1. Kick their ass Bernie - Sanders knows how to fight back
If you can afford it we all need to help Bernie out with some dollars. His wacko Repuke opponent is going to front 5 million of his own $$$$.

I'm going to have to dig a bit, but a lunch or two a month is a small price to pay to see these Swift Boat punks sunk.

2. The Shrimp boat Vets for Bush?
It's time we litigate this fucker in court, drain his resources, force him to pour his puke money away from harming the good leaders.

3. Didn't they tell us they were non-partisan…
that it was just John Kerry they didn't like, and that they had no ties whatsoever with the Bush administration or the Republican Party?

15. Yep. And now they show up for awards at GOP dinners all over the country.
I doubt this will have any effect on Bernie because the only reason they got airtime before was part of a media action to protect Bush's hold on the office.

Now that the media has been exposed for allowing debate to be stifled by the WH on Plame and Iraq, and Katrina showed a naked emperor, the media will be less likely to give the massive airtime to these fools that they did before.

5. Oh, I'm glad they are rearing their ugly
lying heads again. This time they need to be completely exposed. I remember the lies they told, and as I recall, some dirt on some of them was uncovered, a little too late for Kerry, though.

Btw, can we file a class-action suit against people who attempt to disrupt an election by lying about an opponent? If not, I hope Bernie will do it, right away. We know they will lie, that's a given. They need to be fully exposed this time.

Also, didn't Kerry file some kind of complaint against them? Whatever happened to that? I never heard anymore about it.

As for John O'Neill's buddy, forget his name, the one who co-authored the piece of propagandist lies they published, he had to take his name off the ads for the books, after his bigotry against the very people they were trying to get on their side, was released. As soon as he appears on the scene (heard he's planning to run against Kerry in Mass, which has a large Catholic population) his disgusting remarks against Catholics should be published in every paper, and relayed to the voters of Mass and elsewhere, so the people know what this man is.

9. Good point. Their timing is really bad and
...hopefully all kinds of people will come out of the woodwork and denounce them. Journalists who gave them more leeway than deserved the first time around will get a chance to set the record straight now. Should be a bloodbath.

10. Thank you la la
Yes, it was Corsi, guess I blocked him from my mind ! :-)

I agree, wiggs. They are like all the Bushbots, they succeed once because the media helped them, not because they were right about anything, but that makes them think they can use the same old tricks again. Like Bush, who thought he could use 9/11 forever.

People will be ready for them this time, I know I am ~ armed to the teeth with all the dirt that was dug up about them, the lies they told etc. They are unfinished business ~ so as their great leader said so eloquently, 'bring it on, not-so-Swifties, we're ready for ya this time', you're party is over, your 15 minutes of fame, done.

11. I wish Bernie Sanders all the best
The Republican machine is going to wage war against Sanders to try and prevent him from gaining a seat in the Senate.

12. You know when will the public catch on.
When the shrimp boat vets did this my old man said that he would never again were the uniform of this country and he's a retired career DI. All O'neil pack is doing is turning veteran against veteran and it's a dang shame.

13. this kind of thing doesn't usually go over too well in New England
What's really funny is that the swifties plan to harp on this:

He's consistently fought President Bush on issues of national security - most specifically he voted against the use of force to oust Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein

... apparently not realizing that opposition to Bush and the Iraq war are selling points up here, where Bush and the war are extremely unpopular.

It's a common mistake of the untalented propagandist: refusing to learn anything about the people he hopes to convince.

17. Sanders is no shrinking violet. He won't allow the character
assassination Kerry did. If there's legal action to be taken, Bernie has probably already begun to take it. In any case, Bernie is such a beloved figure in Vermont, I doubt anything could make a difference in the election.
