How can so many Reagan Republicans be so gaga over Bush? Reagan was an actual fiscal conservative. I don't even think that Reagan would profess to being a fan of McCarthy.

I used to think that Reagan was so far to the Right. Now these folks make him look like a Moderate. Or is it just that they are a different breed of Republican?

I bet it varies a lot regionally as well as by class and race. Lincoln probably makes the list for white southerners. Roosevelt still makes repugs apoplectic. I probably hate Henry Ford more than any other historical American. Kissinger, if you count him as American, maybe.

McCarthy was at least an "honest" zealot. He was crazy, paranoid and power mad, but he really did think the windmills were giants, versus Bush who actually knows they're all by Halliburton, but uses the giant metaphor as a convenient tool for the masses.
