Minimum wage is not acceptable. It should be a Human's basic right to say what her/his work is worth. And Health Care is a Human Right.

Government should create tools to redress Economic Injustice (like in-accessibility of Health Insurance, which causes Cultural and Developmental Disabiling of Children, lost opportunities for very developmentally-effective and cost-effective interventions that work for children, but are missed because War is More Important. In-accessibility of Health Care creates and perpetuates the "Welfare Class", considered to be Riff Raff to Higher Class Bureaucrats, this puts a strain on and damages the Public Education, and increases Abortions, and makes pre-designated groups of People Less, i.e. Dependent which becomes more of a Social problem (one of MANY that is) to All of Us. The purpose of Government should be for the Group to address the Rights of every member/economic participant.

we as unions have been trying to unite the underclass for years,to enbolden them that they have a voice.Needless to say we haven't been successful.It is very hard to reach this group.They have been disenfranchised so long that they trust no one.They don't believe anyone will make a difference and it's everyman and woman for themselves.

2. The problems with the unions, and I believe in the necessity

of labor organizations, is that union rank and file have allowed their leaders to sell out to corrupt politicians and management. A union leader should never be treated as a CEO, nor should they be given perks akin to those of the CEO. The leadership, by being cozy, with management and politicians, have marginalized the unions and made them ineffective. Union leaders need to be purged, just like the leadership of the Dem party which has cozied up with lobbyists and their masters.

Nothing will happen until the people clean house.

4. Who exactly are corrupt?

We have our own lobbyist's,but on the local level we are hardly in bed with the enemy.Free Trade has taken away our bargaining chip.However union shops pay better,are safer,and put out a better product then non-union shops.So I wouldn't call that ineffective.Our numbers are down but that has alot to do with republican anti-union campaign.In other words we are better than the alternative.

Unions will *never* woo low income workers until they stop fraternizing as golf buddies (like Sweeney does with Bu$h) with the very people who earn 500 Xs more than the workers they exploit. Sorry but actions speak louder than a bunch of empty words.

As a union worker almost all my life I have found that it is a waste of my dues to pay for a union that does little or nothing to protect their people but will sell out in a heartbeat in order to increase their own revenue. Unions are a business, check it out. They have a bottom line and it is an oxymoron. If their bottom line means kissing up to CEO slime, then they will sell out in a NY minute all the people they are being paid to represent. I have seen it done again and again. How are theysleeping at night accepting hard earned dollars to represent and then not do it? I am sure they sleep quite comfortably since they sleep with these monsters in feather beds, thanks to the the asses they kiss!

I am not speaking of the average active union member here, who are good people and sincere. They believe they are doing good and give generously of their time. But they are just dupes for the Big Bosses. Either they do not know it, refuse to face it, or know it but think the ends justifies the means. Take it from someone who has worked for over 35 years for these thugs, who was raised by WOBBLYS and who believed with all her heart in unions at one time. Been there, done that, and found that I was being used for the furtherment of the higher ups as a puppet poster child for their own gain, but who really could give a rat's ass about anyone but themselves (Yay Seattle 925!).

Yeah, yeah, yeah....unions are the only ones "protecting" workers, but they need to get their heads out of their butts and realize they will never woo people who are already being taken by The Man at work. We may be poor but we are not stupid! Why be taken again by an "insurance company" who would do everything in their power *not* to insure the people they are paid to insure?????

6. It's very hard to

make any blanket statement about what "the rank and file"want.The union leaders are elected to keep a dialog going with the management.Union workers want to keep as many on their payrolls as possible,if that means the leadership needs to work with management than that is what the rank and file will deem productive and their votes will reflect that.It's a democracy thing.What you may see as cozying up to management may look like the difference between a job or the unemployment line to us.It's very easy to decide what should be relevant when it's not your job on the line.We get what we can and fight for every bit of it.

You can already do this. You simply have to find an employer who is willing to pay you the salary you demand for the job you are going to do.
