Did anyone catch the crazy Jeezus-Freeper on "Trading Spouses" last night?
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 10:15 AM by IanDB1
The sad thing is, the woman is obviously mentally ill. But rather than getting help, she is surrounded by a "support" group that tells her that not only is she "normal," but she is "superior."

She hears Gawd talking to her all the time ("He talks more than I do") and she has "God Attacks" which sound an awful lot to me like panic attacks.

And her Xian friends encourage this!

From Ifilm.com

The perfect embodiment of an American religious conservative
Thoroughly insane, outrageously fat, bad skin, really fucked up teeth, a white trash breeder, and an incomprehensable Jesus-rambler. She should be put on a pedestal and proudly presented to the world....

WHAT'S WITH THAT MELTDOWN MOM ON FOX?November 2, 2005 --

THE gap-toothed Louisiana woman whose babbling, screaming meltdown has been played repeatedly on Fox to promote tonight's new season of "Trading Spouses" tonight doesn't care if people think she's nuts.

<snip>

The Fox clip has become a TV talker — showing Perrin pitching a wild-eyed fit, screeching at the top of her lungs that she's "a Christian warrior" and something like, "get the hell out of my house, in Jesus' name I pray."

Her problem, she says, was that the Massachusetts family she swapped with had different, "dark" beliefs and frequently confronted her with them.

The Flishers of Massachusetts turned out to be firm believers in astrology, palm reading, the power of crystals and other New Age doctrines.

"There were witch books in their house," she says.

<snip>

Her family, says Perrin, was happy to see her but she ended up frightening them instead. "They weren't scared because I'm always loud, but that was the maddest I've ever been in my life.

Crazy lady from this weeks episode of Trading Spouses. I bet her husband changed all the locks as soon as she left. This woman needs her own show, I would watch every week.
http://comments.big-boys.com/?id=4228

Meet the Perrin Family!

Marguerite and her very colorful family live in Ponchatoula Louisiana, a small town right outside of New Orleans. Her husband Barry was a stockbroker for seven years and then worked in sales at Guillot Supplies. Barry is a fun loving and easy going man with a quick whit that compliments Marguerite’s boisterous and flamboyant personality. Some women are just too wild to be tamed, so Barry just runs wild with her, usually not by choice. Marguerite along with her oldest daughter Ashley own and run an award winning dance studio in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Brooke, Marguerite and Barry’s youngest child is very mild mannered and easy going. Brooke always has a smile and never a harsh word. Brooke travels in the dance circuit and is currently a national title winner. Brooke has been featured in dance websites and in national magazines for her talent.

The Perrin family has always been a very close family and the unexpected pregnancy of Ashley brought them some rocky times but it was God and their faith that kept them close as they welcomed the birth of Abigail into the Perrin home. Abigail is now considered the heart of the household. They consider themselves Christians in a sense that they believe in God and they believe that Jesus gave his life for all of us. Marguerite is a firm believer that God loves everyone unconditionally and does not like any alternatives brought into her life or her family’s life.

Marguerite attempts to walk a straight line in her faith but the drama in her many times leads her down the winding road. She’s an extreme on her beliefs and has no problem arguing her side on anything especially when it comes to religion. Barry describes Marguerite as shocking pink in a pastel world.

D'AMICO-FLISHER FAMILY
EPISODE 201

Jeanne D’Amico Flisher and her family are from Boxborough, MA.
Jeanne D'Amico and her husband Chris Flisher met on a dating
website and were married after a two-year relationship. When
they met, Chris was a widower and Jeanne was divorced.

Jeanne’s children include Matthew, Elliot and Emma. Jeanne
describes 15-year-old Elliot as a gentle and shy boy, but very
creative. 12-year-old Emma is a typical Leo - a bold extrovert
who loves attention. Her son Matthew, 19 was unavailable for
the show. Chris is the father of fun-loving, 13-year-old
Miles, a charming kid who enjoys picking on his stepsister
Emma. Chris also has 20-year old twins, Benjamin and Ryan who
were unavailable for the show. The household is a fun mix of personalities, with children from two different families and cultures coming together to experience the unique, loving parenting from Chris and Jeanne, as unconventional a couple as they are provocative.

Jeanne is passionate about hypnotherapy and approaching life from a positive standpoint. As a hypnotherapist, she uses hypnosis to modify bad habits to keep patients from falling back on into negative routines such weight gain, smoking, and gambling to mention a few. After she met Chris, Jeanne invited him to sit in on her local radio show. The couple had an immediate on-air rapport and carried their message of positive change to a local radio audience for close to three years
establishing a loyal following with numerous public appearances. Their show encompassed all sorts of new age therapies and guests from all walks of life. The bottom line of their show was all about helping people make positive changes in their lives by stepping outside of the conventional box and incorporating non-traditional approaches to life and daily living.

While Jeanne is a specialist in hypnotherapy and uses this valuable tool to help people reconstruct their lives, Chris works with astrology to help clients find their true life's purpose. Chris believes that astrology provides people with their personal owner's manual and can aid them in career and relationship decisions. He is also a writer and a mandala artist who has used his experiences in life and loss to guide
others through similar challenges.

She's SOOOOO fucked up. For has her husband "whipped" for the better term, and she is batshit crazy. What I didn't understand was that scene where she was vomiting over some kind of smell in the other family's kitchen that they did not even have.

It was wild. I felt bad for the kids. I can't believe they aren't getting her some sort of mental help or something. It's simply ridiculous to act like that.

Ha Ha - Yes, they never explained that. Man, what about those
"friends" who visited the other woman with the frizzy black hair - Yikes.

You have to admit the other family's quite odd too.

Shit, where do they find these people?

I was dissappointed - didn't know it was two parts. I think that she REALLY freaks out in Part II. Looks like she goes home and is shreading any sign of the devil wife.

I feel sorry for that little girl - she looks petrified. The rest of the family seemed half-way ok. Maybe they wrote in and said, "My mother is crazy - we would love to get rid of her for a couple weeks."

15. I think the woman has Frontal Lobe Epilepsy
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 10:30 AM by IanDB1
I think this would explain the voices, panic attacks, phantom odors and vomiting.

I also give a tentative diagnosis of chronic gingivitis secondary to chronic masturbation.

(Watch closely, she did advocate masturbation to support abstinence until marriage during the radio show. She must listen to James Dobson. "I promise you, you won't go blind," was her advice).

From Healthy New Jersey:

Seizure disorders involve periodic disturbances of the brain's electrical activity, resulting in some degree of temporary brain dysfunction.

<snip>

Symptoms

In about 20% of people who have a seizure disorder, seizures are preceded by unusual sensations of smell, taste, or vision or an intense feeling that a seizure is about to begin (aura). Usually, an aura is associated with an unpleasant sensation, such as an odor of burning garbage or decaying flesh.

<snip>

Symptoms vary depending on which area of the brain is affected by the abnormal electrical discharge. For example, if an abnormal electrical discharge occurs in the area that controls smell (located deep within temporal lobe), the person may sense an intensely pleasant or unpleasant smell. If it occurs in another area of the temporal lobe, the person may experience a sense of déjà vu, in which unfamiliar surroundings seem inexplicably familiar. If the abnormal discharge affects the frontal lobe, the person may be unable to speak. If the abnormal discharge affects large areas, it can cause a convulsion (jerking and spasms of muscles, usually throughout the body). Other symptoms include numbness or tingling in a specific body part, brief attacks of altered consciousness (such as drowsiness), loss of consciousness, confusion, and loss of muscle or bladder control.

Subject: Not necessarily crazy per se...
Date: Aug 20 23:09
Author: Bryan
Mail Address:
Frontal lobe epilepsy is far from being crazy. Frontal lobe epilepsy is a real physical condition, a localized form of epilepsy. During frontal lobe seizures, the sufferer experiences what he takes to be religious visions. In fact, it has even been induced by use of electromagnets on test subjects who reported "visions" similar to those of the OT prophets. Joe, OTOH, was simply a very talented con man. There's no record of him having epileptic seizures. Most of his "revelations" were simply dictated to his secretary while he was sitting in his office. The ever changing accounts of the First Vision and the visit by either Nephi or Moroni show that he was likely making up the "visions" out of whole cloth and not experiencing frontal lobe epilepsy. The BoM, while impressive in that its story has resonated with true believers for 175 years, was originally full of grammatical and spelling mistakes that were to be expected of somebody of Joe's education level. Plus it's full of implausible numbers of people. Supposedly, there were millions of Lamanites and 230,000 Nephites from just a dozen or so original immigrants. That would require statistically impossible rates of growth. Joe had an extraordinarily fertile imagination, to the extent that he translated fake plates (Kinderhook plates). And he was probably one of the greatest con men America has ever known. But he wasn't crazy (at least not at first) and he didn't have epilepsy.

Frontal Experiences

I was emailed this week asking if I knew anything about whether over-activity of the frontal lobes (either in an epiletic seizure or in a psychotic illness) could cause a religious experience.

hi rob - well, this isn't directly related to your post! but, a girl i know who is a christian was diagnosed with frontal lobe epilepsy, after several months of sporadic fits etc. she's really such a great intercessor and woman of God. also, this week we've been studying schizophrenia (and epilepsy) in uni. i know (have been told) that stimulation of the frontal lobes can result in 'profound religious experiences'... this confuses me! can you recommend any literature that i could read on the topic of these really challenging mental disorders in relation to biblical christianity please? do you have any thoughts on the matter and have you had to think about these issues yourself? this week has really challenged my faith, and my thoughts upon the holy spirit's impact in peoples' lives. i know that God's word is truth and unchanging, but i would really like to understand this further! thank you so much :)

This isn't my experet area so I'll keep my comments brief. I have had a bit of a read around and what is below is based on hard evidence. Others may be able to say more.

* If a person has a religious background (and this may be just a cultural background such as living in a strongly catholic country), then they are more likely to have religious psychopathology. Ie, they may believe they are the Virgin Mary or they may have a religious or spiritual feeling. These are not usually lasting, nor so I believe they are related to what I would understand spirituality or faith to be. For example, if the person had avery non-religious background, they would 'recruit' delusions from that - eg, believe they were a famous politician or superhero, or have emotions they would describe in non-religious ways such as 'peace' or 'power'.

* People who have intense spiritual experiences based on a longer-standing spirituality or faith (eg during a worship concert or prayer) DO show changes in their frontal lobes if they are wired up to a brain monitor at the time. this is not suprising - the brain reflects all that happens in our body and the frontal lobes are associated with the sorts of functions inplicit in faith - personal identity, social emotions, strategic and life-chaging analysis. The frontal lobe is the 'executive control' of the brain.

* People who have a longer-lasting faith find faith-based psychopathology distressing. Eg, someone who is a Christian may be horrified by the fact that when their schizophrenia is active they begin to believe they have miraculous powers. I think this says more about schizophrenia than it does about their faith. In between psychotic episodes they have a more 'normal' faith.

I caught a preview of it, so I made a point to watch. I felt a little deceived though, because it seems the realmeltdown isn't until next week. She was doing OK on the relationship advice radio show, but then totally freaked out when the psychic joined the show. Typical intolerant fundie. Can't even be in the room with someone with different beliefs without freaking.

No, watch that show, it's not even healthy! I saw the ads for this one though, I was wondering how wild it would be. Pretty good, sounds like, freak show.

Now Boston Legal, on the other hand, with Bill Shatner (!) and Candice :) is fantasic!!! Betty White, it's such fun to see her :) A lot of characters, great writing, it's a scream, I can't tout it enough. David E. Kelly.

12. for many, religion is a source of strength. but not for this one.
this one has become so utterly dependent on religion that she cannot have a remotely civil conversation straying from her comfort zone. nor does she have the religious resources to give herself comfort. she can wail and moan that she "needs prayer" but somehow she can't just pray. no, she needs others to pray.

she represents the -- dare i say it -- dark side of religion. the part that disrespects others and demands like-mindedness.

How sad that instead of supporting and helping her, her "friends" instead encourage her along a path of self-destruction.

She's obviously got some organic mental-illnesses and she's a prayer-addict.

She needs a psychiatrist and a dentist.

I feel bad for the woman and her family, but I reserve my scorn for her "friends" who feed into her illness three days a week. Those ladies are just evil bitches, and they need their screaming jeezus-freak mascott for their own selfish reasons.

....and stayed to watch an extrememly dysfunctional family where it was clear that the father was abusing the kids and the mother. They were terrified of him. The little kids said "Dad used to hit us" and comments like that and were themselves quite violent. The poor mother was a basket case and so very, very screwed up. The nanny smoothed things over with some behavior changes, but those of us who were watching thought that child protective services should have been called. It was very disturbing.

That freak in the commercials claims to be a Christian?? As a Christian, I am appalled. She needs to see a shrink. If other people's views cause her that much trauma, how long until her own kids start to question their beliefs due to her actions and then she hears voices that tell her to kill them.

That wasn't good TV, it was a train wreck, she seriously needs help (or marry Danny Bonaduci).
