The "Today Show" will do a feature on the Rockettes honoring the
picketline of Local 802 of the Musicians Union, striking the Radio City Christmas Show. Negotiations for a contract broke down and management (Cablevision) plans on using canned music (a tape of a 55 piece orchestra) for the shows through January. Among other things, management did not want to pay overtime to the musicians despite their working 7 days/evenings a week, sometimes more than one performance per day.

The Rockettes showed great courage and solidarity with the musicians by staying away from dress rehearsel performances last night. The real test is at 11:00 this morning to see if they cross the picketline for the "kick-off" performance for the season.

1. Mike Wallace on TDS last night got the story all wrong.
He said that the Rockettes went on strike because the musicians just got a raise. He also recommended that Jon Stewart try to get them on the show and have them dance.
