1. Maybe his naked ambition and lack of principles hurt him
I wouldn't vote for him either.

2. Do we as Democrats fight for the poor
. . . or for NH primary voters?

It is not merely a matter of electoral politics. It is a matter of winning the trust of those most trod upon.

Vox populi, vox Dem--not vox Dean.

4. if I were Clark I'd be fighting for the NH voters
if he doesn't, he may not have much of a chance to try to help the poor.

that's my point.

9. It is merely a matter of electoral politics
otherwise Al Gore would be in the White House.

5. They don't think poorly of him. They don't know him.
"Awareness of Wesley Clark has increased to 90% from 47% in August, but over half of likely Democratic primary voters aware of Clark say they do not know enough about him to form an opinion."

8. I don't think so
as far as I know, this ARG poll is the most recent one.

The greatest change in ballot preference since the September survey is preference for Wesley Clark increasing from 2% to 5% (which is within the margin of error).

12. Could have something to do with the Dean push polling..
and Dean saying that Clark was a republican until 25 days ago. Clark was polling at 10% in Gallup before this poll came out. I wouldn't want to be Dean when the NH voters find out about his slimey tactics.

15. Push polling? Is that a fact?
or are you willing to accept the reports of THREE people who were supposedly push polled and no connection to Dean's campaign has been established?

Equally possible: three people eager to smear Dean to improve Clark's numbers in NH made up the story.

Typical bullshit smear.

19. Clark The Democrat doesn't need any help undermining himself
Clark, 2001: "I'm very glad we've got the great team in office, men like Colin Powell, Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice... people I know very well - our president George W. Bush. We need them there."

Democrat? Republican? Wesley Reports...You Decide!

Oh, I forgot so is Clark as of last week when he finally registered as a Democrat instead of an Independent.

16. The reason Clark does well nationally but not the first two primary states
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 12:53 AM by Bertrand
First, Your subject title isnt validated by the info in your message.

As for why Clark is polling low in NH and Iowa, it's a combination of many things but mostly him coming late into the game against already established orgs in the two first primary states.

Edit: forgot the nationally part

I think that his support nationally comes from a more level playing field since alot of the resources of everyone are tied up in the early states.
