21. As he pointed out in Columbine
he's also (at least was) an NRA member. I wouldn't sweat it.

3. It all depends on how it is owned, IMHO
I would suspect that most people who have a 401k own wee amounts of stock in companies that they would be ashamed to own stock in. If he has a mutual fund then he has little say in what the fund invests in.

4. I don't mind. every stock holder is entitled to reports AND
is entitled to attend stockholder meetings - which are closed to the public.

this is a smart move on his part.

18. He's still down there--working with Katrina--
I saw on his site last week that he was still working with veteran's for peace, getting relief directly to the survivors.

Here's a link to his letter about it...

typical Republican low blows.
This is what we'll get while Bush continues to slide.
Down to 35% in the latest.
Who gets the next attack?
Chelsea?

10. Much as the wingers would like
to believe that his stock, if he does own it, invalidates his work. It doesn't. Bush still lied about WMD. Fahrenheit 911 is a still a record of the Bushies cozy aiding and abetting of the Saudis. And Bush still sat on his ass staring blankly while our country was under attack...for seven minutes.
Columbine still shows the greed and blood lust of the gun lobby and the NRA.
But. Hey, nice try.

I have to build up the numbers, they don't just appear like repuke votes in Ohio...

If it isn't true than whatever, I was just asking...

Thanks to those who answered without judgement anyway. I think owning the stock to get into the meetings is genius!

Keep your friends close, right?

Twice a day, maybe three times.

You know, the same amount of times per day that a US soldier is killed in Iraq, in this asinine war that they continue to support.

23. Oh, I see how it works
"Noam Chomsky has made a reputation for calling America a police state and branding the Pentagon "the most hideous institution on earth," yet his entire academic career, writes Schweizer, has been subsidized by the U.S. military."

Presumably because he works at MIT? There's a thin tether to hang your argument on, dudley! If the Michael Moore claim is as stretched and specious as the Chomsky claim, well then....

I'd certainly like to see more. Whose schedule D filing is it, exactly? His personal filing? More info, please.

Individuals interested in fair business practices purchase shares in companies so that they may initiate proposals in the attempt to stop unjust and oppressive business policies in corporations, certainly like of Halliburton.

More than anything, as a shareholder, they can then attend the shareholders meetings and express their opposition to various companies' policies, promoting and sponsoring proposals of their own, and inform and educate other shareholders of some of the practices going on by the companies.

It's a very important and beneficial way for Americans to become more empowered and enlightened in the corporate world in becoming shareholders.

31. Cheney's Halliburton stock options rose 3,281% last year
Cheney told "Meet the Press" in 2003 that he didn't have any financial ties to the firm.

“Since I left Halliburton to become George Bush's vice president, I've severed all my ties with the company, gotten rid of all my financial interest," the Vice President said. "I have no financial interest in Halliburton of any kind and haven't had, now, for over three years.”

33. If you are an investor, Halliburton is one of the few
stocks that is doing well. I wonder why? I wouldn't sweat it. When the collapse comes, everyone will lose what they gained on paper. I think it would be better to ask how much Halliburton does he have? A hundred shares or so is a drop in the bucket. I don't think anyone in the present administration can claim that they only have a few hundred shares.

39. Moore is out for himself and his own profit. What else is new?
It also seems quite the opposite of what we'd expect. So I wouldn't be surprised.

It's just business anyway.

I dig what Moore has to say, but I don't forget he's out to make money first and foremost. Much like Rush Limbaugh and Jerry Springer are.
