Anyway, The New Yorker introduces a 1996 novel called The Apprentice by none other than recently indicted scumbag, Scooter Libby, as another in a series of questionable novels by prominent conservatives...

I am sending a copy of the above posted info, plus snips from a column about Libby's book that I just cut from the New York Daily News.10/31/05 In the section called LowDown, whoever writes this news titles his column thus:

"In literary style, Libby's guilt is an open-&-smut case."

"The last time I saw Scooter Libby he was trying to persuade Maureen Dowd to join him in doing tequila shots at the celeb-studded Bloomberg party after the 2003 White House Correspondents Association Dinner."

y'all should stop being so prudish about stuff like this in fiction. If it's not your bag, that's cool, but you shouldn't slam a guy for his imagination (or fantasies for that matter). The fact that you have represented something in a novel does not mean that you endorse it. If you could only write about things that you personally approve of, fiction would be the most boring goddamn thing on the planet. To generate conflict, you need some kind of badness.

You don't necessary need bear rape, but, you know, whatever.

However, I will say that based on the sentences quoted, it seems a miscarriage of justice that this novel made it into publication at all.
