They're calling the closed session a "stunt". I say GREAT!
Here's the definition of stunt:
1.A feat displaying unusual strength, skill, or daring.
2.Something done to attract attention or publicity.

Either of those definitions is fine with me. I say embrace the idea of it being a stunt. Someone needed to be daring and skillful, and this issue definitely needed to be done to attract the public's attention.

Stunt is a very good word to describe the Dem's action yesterday. I vote for more "stunts" just like it!

4. Exactly. We should use the Republicans shameless stunt on Schiavo
to our advantage. The public hated what they did and we can take advantage of it.

16. Yes, a vote a night over the weekend, wasn't it?
Didn't they pull together a special session, just for Terry?

How is that not a stunt, after hours, but following the rules during the light of day to call a secret session IS a stunt? NO comparison. Purely political.

Two words. Terry Schiavo. Stunt extraordinaire.

6. Aren't all the cries of "Terra, Terra, Terra" also stunts?
Seems to me that every time they get in trouble, they come up with some kind of stunt.

Dems need to get better at stunts.

I wonder how Bill Frist got Reid to do this? Masterful.>

I couldn't make that up if I tried.

11. I think that they don't understand the idea that the entire country
isn't made up of Repubs. The far right might well come together, but the mods and indies won't. They want to know what the hell happened, too.

Oh, to live in a world so bereft of reality. Would make it easier to face the day.

9. I think stunt was the strongest word they could come up with
after being caught so flat-footed.

What bothers me is that the Repubs WERE caught so flat-footed on this. They were totally amazed. Which tells me they don't expect the Dems to do anything to fight back. They expect us to just bend over and take whatever they dish out.

So more stunts, please. Keep them on their toes.

14. What are some other stunts the Dems could use to keep this
all front and center? Nuclear option is a given, but we've got a lot of time between now and then.

They need to come up with some planned way to keep the media focused on the Dems agenda, instead of just ignoring whatever is said.

Heard on talking idiot say yesterday that not one Dem has come out with any alternate plan for the war. What the hell is that about?

They need to keep up bold actions to force the media to deal with them.

so the repubs can't just change the rules.

That's the brilliance of using this particular rule. It reminds the repubs of Reid's threat to shut down the senate if they try to remove the filibuster. It's saying "if you want to play hardball, you've got to take a punch as well as you throw one".

How is using the rules of the Senate being a communist? They were just throwing out words yesterday to see what might stick.

so far over the top. Doesn't he think it was a "personal affront" to Daschle when he went out and actively campaigned against him?

Was that a "stunt", too?

30. If you watched Larry King last night -
Sen Shelby (R., Alabama) was downright collegial (well, at least never overtly nasty) with Barbara Boxer - looks to me like maybe some of Prince Frist's GOP friends are having some second thoughts. Of course, what's funny is Frist usually has that pious beagle-dog look on his face, but when somebody has the balls to challenge his power, the mask does drop, doesn't it!!

31. I saw Shelby last night. He really was pretty moderate in his
responses. And he admitted that people have questions and those questions need to be answered.

Oh, it's so nice to see these folks caught between a rock and a hard place, due to elections in a year.
