The president was reading to a group of children when the chief of staff
whispered that there was an emergency...

No, not 911 with the Pet Goat, but earlier this evening on Commander in Chief. She was in Florida visiting evacuees after a hurricane struck, and she was reading to a group of children.

Meanwhile a tanker has sprung a leak and her chief of staff whispered in her ear. She immediately gave the book to the kids telling them to continue reading on their own, got up and left.

This is what is fun, for us, political junkies, to watch the West Wing (where the Democratic candidate, Congressman Matt Santos recently was talking about a bill that he first voted for it before he voted against it), Commander in Chief and Boston Legal, where it was revealed that a national guard had to stay mobilized under a "stop loss" for up to... 25 more years. Where the Alan Shore character said that he first supported the war, than opposed it.. in short, he is a "flip flop."

2. I'm enjoying Commander in Chief
I like how the governor greeted the President by thanking her for taking such quick action after the hurricane. President "Mac" is everything * isn't.

3. Hi! What a great night of TV!!!!
I posted this (only briefer than your post) on another thread tonight in regards to the Boston Legal show. Weren't they great? I saw all three of these, as they are my favorites. I would say we had a great day all around!! First the Senate CHARGE!!!!!! and then tonights TV shows. The icing on the cake was Barbara Boxer on the Daily show. The gal has a sense of humor!!! I guess she'd have to to stay in that 3 ring circus! :applause:

4. Indeed. I think that all the people with brain and a sense of humor
prefer Jon Stewart on any of the "heavy" shows. Besides, I would say that as many watch the Daily Show as the Sunday ones.

7. The best! The paralegal from last week was suing the army
because her brother was recruited to the guard for one year "tryout" but then, when his term was up, he was kept in Iraq under the "stop loss" program, was placed in a situation where he had to dismantle a road side bomb - which he was never trained how to do and was killed.

What was interesting, was how so many bristled at suing the army since we are "at war." When the recruiter was on the stand and he said that he never lie or promise the sky, Alan Shore had a young man in the audience for whom the recruiter promised training in sound mixing. Also, when Shore asked him how long would that guard have to serve under this "stop loss" order, the reply was... 2031! I know I gasped.

Denny Crane was pissed, actually ordered Shore to drop the case which he would not, of course.

Of course, the army, like any government body - I think - cannot be sued, but the judge did allow hearing and the young paralegal got her change to "scream" as she wanted.

The judge was wearing an American flag tie, but did express his dismay that this war is getting to be like Vietnam and agreed with Shore that we just don't care about it anymore. The writing was fairly recent, as the number 2000 was mentioned.

On the loony side, devout Christians and Wiccan parents joined to bar Halloween pageant, where the principal is a scary witch, from the school where their kids were attending. Schmidt was suing that case. They lost.

5. It was great!
I loved that and I love reliving everything on the "West Wing". Kind of sad though but I love Smitts. He's great!

9. I watched it last night too....
Apparently SOTH is supposed to be Frist - they mentioned he was a doctor.

Also found the book part was very very interesting - actually the whole hurricane plotline was cool.
