Democratic Party ads in 2006 should emphasize "One Party Rule" we've had,
and ask the voter whether they are happy with the result.

Perhaps some juicy comparisons with China, Soviet Russia would be apt. Nice photo images for the ads. Juxtapose Stalin with Tom DeLay etc.

1. good idea
I know of several people who think this nation works best with 'divided rule'-that is, Congress in the hands of one party, the Presidency in the hands of the other. Personally, in my lifetime I've felt there have been several times when the Dems were control of it all and the country got along just fine. But I think the Dems are honorable and try to be fair, unlike the monster that has become the GOP.

3. I was a young un in those times
But can anyone tell me: In those last few years, when the Democrats held Congress, and were seen as having become corrupt and useless. Would I be right in saying that they were never as bad as these Repukes I see today?

4. yes
the Dems were never ones that were as corrupt as the repukes, I'd say, even going back to the nineteenth century. And during the Era of Good Feelings, there was only one viable party-the Democrats.

2. Great idea!
They can throw in the abuses of power and the extemism one party rule creates.

5. Great idea. "Under one-party rule......" and then list the wrongs and
the crimes they committed against the citizenry.

6. And don't forget we need to highlight their war on justice
ala attempts to establish religious litmus test for justices and the outrageous circus that was Terri Schiavo...we need to REMIND voters that the Republican Congress was beholden to the most extreme religious Reich groups in this nation and held every marriage and family hostage during that time.

We also need to highlight that the primary supporters of the current Administration include those who believe there is no separation of church and state and those who believe no American has a right to privacy or personal life choices.
