So, would it be possible for the Dems to "run out the clock" on SC noms?

So, would it be possible for the Dems to "run out the clock" on SC noms?
Like, could the Democrats simply filibuster every nominee that * nominates until after the '06 elections?

Also, what does the SC do with cases when they only have 7 or 8 judges on the court?

if the Dems try it; known as "the nuclear option."

Don't think the Constitution mentions a number for the SC.

The SCOTUS can decide cases with one or more justices not voting, so it does not need all nine justices to function.

In the event of a tie (say, 4-4 decision), the lower court decision stands.

Edit: The Constitution does not mention a certain number of justices the SCOTUS must have. FDR tried to increase the number of justices to 15, but the Congress scuttled the proposal.
