A letter to Reid and Senate Democrats (my first draft)

Dear Senator Reid and all Senate Democrats,

I am writing in support of your courageous and vital action today in the Senate.

For several long years, the American people have watched the Bush Administration lie about and manipulate intelligence. Their willful deceit has caused the deaths of over 2,000 American service people; left over 40,000 Americans physically and/or psychologically wounded; decimated America’s standing on the world stage; and hindered our ability to protect our nation from those who actually do aim to harm us.

The move today in the Senate will, we hope, lead to the truth about all of these matters.

While you may be in the minority inside the Senate chamber, be assured that you do not stand alone. Millions of Americans stand ready to support this endeavor, and we hope the event today is the first in a long line of steps toward ultimately uncovering the truth about the Bush Administrations run-up to, and handling of the war in Iraq.

It is critical, for our immediate safety and the security of future generations, that you continue to demand the truth in Congress.
