Time Reporter Says He Learned Agent's Identity From RoveMatthew Cooper Says I. Lewis Libby Confirmed Information

Oct. 31 2005 — One of the reporters at the center of the investigation into the leak of the identity of an undercover CIA officer, says he first learned the agent's name from President Bush's top political advisor, Karl Rove.

Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper also said today in an interview with "Good Morning America," that the vice president's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, confirmed to him that Ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, was a covert CIA operative.

...

"There is no question. I first learned about Valerie Plame working at the CIA from Karl Rove," Cooper said.

Libby has since claimed that he heard the Plame rumors from other reporters. Cooper disputed that version of events. "I don't remember it happening that way," he said. "I was taking notes at the time and I feel confident."

2. Like this isn't something we didn't already know. KKKarl deserves an
indictment as much as Libby. All we can do is wait and see what happens.

7. I can't help but think...
Ok, hope, really...

That Fitzgerald is very carefully and methodically zeroing in on the real perpe-traitor.

He has to make absolutely sure he can prove a crime was committed by the revealing of Plame's identity.

Sure we Know a crime was committed that cost us years if not decades of cultivating contacts and intelligence, that destroyed a critical national security asset, that compromised the security of every man woman and child, not just in America, but ALL OVER THE WORLD... but knowing isn't enough.

He has to prove it.

And from what I gather, if there's anyone who can, it's Pat Fitzgerald.

3. We knew, Kool-aid drinkers didn't. That's the BOOM!
:nuke:

I wonder if Rove went back to the GJ and told them that he told Cooper.
That is probably what saved his ass. Rove LIED then retracted the LIE.

Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 12:58 PM by bushmeat

10. He probably told Fitz that he didnt know she was an agent and didnt know
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 01:14 PM by bushmeat
Libby leaked her also until after the fact. Now how would Fitz prove him a liar about that?

I so hope he's busted but you can count on him doing everything he possible can to avoid indictment.

12. You gotta remember Fitz isn't going after the outing an agent statute
He's trying to get the bastards on purgery and obstruction stuff.
He can indict them later if he finds out they intentionally outed her. The problem is proving the intent to out.

Hands down we know the fuckers lied and obstructed because if they didn't Fitz would have been able to indict on the outing an agent statute because the lies and obstruction are covering up the intent to out.

see what I mean

14. If Fitz does anything else, it will be to bring a conspiracy case
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 08:46 PM by bushmeat
But that takes more time. My guess he doesn't have enough to prove conspiracy, but is trying to build the case. He won't bring it unless hes convinced its rock solid though. And for that he needs an insider. Just my silly guess though.

4. But, but, but, it's an ongoing investigation...
How can he say anything in public about it? Oh, yeah, according to Fitzgerald, once a witness leave the grand jury room they can say whatever they want, can't they? I can't wait until Fitzgiving for the other shoe to drop.
