I like how the Republicans are trying to have it both ways
with Regard to Valerie Plame.

1. It was no big deal that her name was leaked to the media because she meant nothing to the CIA.

2. She was responsible for having the CIA send her husband to Niger to investigate whether Saddam was trying to buy Yellow Cake.

Which is it? Was she a nothing to the CIA or was she such a big deal she could effect the actions of that agency?

1. I think the 60 Minutes story did a good job of underscoring the
damage done by this act.

2. There's no way to suss the rethugs in things like this.
We all sometimes employ a double standard when we're analyzing the Opposition as opposed to Our Guys, but the rethugs go beyond hypocritical and sometimes come damn close to psychotic. The examples are all cliche by this point, such as their continued belief that Clinton getting a blowie is infinitely more noteworthy than Corky the Cowboy's slaughter of tens of thousands of human beings. They claim to stand for the rule of law, yet they idolize Ollie North and G Gordon Liddy. It just goes on and on. Are there Leftist hypocrites? Damn skippy! But this fact is generally acknowledged by other leftists. Rethugs, on the other hand, parrot every piece of crap their leaders float them, making each one an article of faith.

3. Faith based politics.
Just as in religion, they can believe the literal truth of a book that makes conflicting assertions, in politics they can have total faith in politicians that make self-conflicting statements. If you need explanations, you don't have enough faith.
