Hasn't anyone else noticed this
A friend pointed this out, I didn't believe him, after all he is a Repug. However I remembered it and later checked it out. Sure enough, it's right there.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/28/AR2005102801340.html

FITZGERALD: I would have wished nothing better that, when the subpoenas were issued in August 2004, witnesses testified then, and we would have been here in October 2004 instead of October 2005. No one would have went to jail.

If Judy Miller, Matt Cooper, and the Rest of the Reporters had testified when they were issued the subpoena's, then Scooter could have been indicted in October 2004. That would have made re-election for the Chimp impossible.

Kerry would be President, The Senate and the House would be under Democratic control, and the Supreme Court Nominee wouldn't be a Fascist Repugnik, but a more Progressive thinking jurist. Not to mention Ginsburg as Chief Justice.

My friends, we can now use this to demonstrate beyond any doubt that the Press isn't Liberal, they are obviously tools of the Conservative Repugniks, or else they would have been happy to offer testimony, and save the nation from four more years of the Chimp and his cronies. The thought just makes me sick. :puke:

2. The GOP and the Corporate Media are a formidable team
They have ruthlessly coordinated perceptions and events to elect Republican candidates since 2000. No matter how bad things look for the Republicans at this point, the machine should be winding up soon for 2006.

Without the support of the corrupt, truly anti-American members of the mainstream media, the Republican Party would sink fast. At this point, they are being propped up by lies and false perceptions.

3. Other things too. Time mag I think it was and 60 Minutes held stories
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 02:57 AM by Garbo 2004
because it was "too close to the election."

Major news outfits have stories they think are so significant that they may cause voters to change who they intend to vote for and they intentionally keep them from the American people? Note: these stories all involved the Administration. 60 Minutes had the Niger story. I can't recall what Time had. (Or was it Newsweek?)

Not any news organization that I can recall refused to feature and promulgate the despicable Swift Boat LIES on the grounds that it might influence the election.

20. And CNN!
They held back their "Dead Wrong - Inside an Intelligence Meltdown" last year and only showed it after Katrina when they realized that Bush's ship was sinking.

4. That's an unrealistic timetable
Fitzgerald merely used that hypothetical date for emphasis. It was convenient, a full year. If this were February 2006, he probably would have said, "...we would have been here in February 2005..."

6. Judy Miller and Matt Cooper held this thing up for 14 months while they
fought their subpoenas in the courts.

I think he was being generous. He could have wrapped it up in August of last year if they'd cooperated.

Saturday, I think.

Her title was something like "Four More Years, courtesy of Judy Miller".

5. I have completely stopped watching any TV
in my home. I get my news here. Even NPR is sold out to the Fascists. If Hitler came to America today, he would feel right at home with our Corporate media.

10. but he would be appalled by the incompetence of our "leaders"
If Hitler came to America today...

he would say "If those dumkoffs Bush, Cheney and Rumfeld had been running my army, they would have gotten bogged down in Poland".

8. I have a sneaky feeling that if things were the same then Bush still
would have won the election stolen or not. They successfully changed every issue of substance into a forum for or against gays and homosexuality.

That is where the vote went. The election in 2k4 had nothing to do with the war, the economy, etc..

16. Isn't that the truth!! I worked with a Rethug last year -
and he couldn't stop talking about gays. He claimed he was not gay, didn't know any gays, and gays are what 10% of the population? He was over 50 and did not have kids to protect. So I kept going "who cares - what difference does it make to you if you gays get married?" It was as if he was afraid the gays would march through town and force him to start having sex with men or something. Some people act like they are afraid they will "catch" homosexuality. Makes you wonder????

9. whoa, wait a minute
not sure we want to blanket-statement say that reporters should immediately respond to subpoenas....YES ultimately we all knew Ms. Miller was a republican whore but honestly I don't think the others were; I think they truly were concerned about "sources".

22. It's just so frustrating
When you consider that had it been released in October 2004, without the stonewalling from the Reporters, then Scooter would have been indicted just before the Election. Talk about your "October Surprise". Sure the Repugniks would have claimed that Fitzgerald was Politically motivated, however the result would have been our winning across the board by landslides. The Repugniks left to run for office would have been tainted by the Bush Cabal for years.

23. Exactly -- my first thought when he made that statement was
Why, oh, why couldn't this have happened a year ago? Kerry would have won with no trouble. This all would have been very fresh in the voters' minds. Well, we know why it didn't happen a year ago. The knew it would jeopardize the election and did everything in their power to not let it happen. And it worked.
