Deflecting the Pushback on Plame!
The Right-Wing Media appears to have found it's strategy to Pushback on the Plame Matter.

    1. "Scooter" is to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. (But apparently Joe Wilson isn't!)

    2. Since the indictment didn't include espionage charges, there was no crime until the investigation of a crime occured. (Yeah, right - Perjury is a "real" crime)

    3. Joe Wilson lied about the yellowcake, and the Senate Intelligence Report says so. (No, it doesn't)

    4. Wilson's wife sent him to Africa, not the Vice President. (Never mind that Wilson never made such a claim.)

None of these points are new, but it is disappointing that so few in the media seem able to even mount a cursory defense against them.

1. They're still PUSHING HARD with these, as well:
Joe Wilson is a liar.

Valerie Plame was not covert.

No underlying crime? Then why was Scooter obstructing justice? What's the point of obstructing justice EXCEPT to cover an underlying crime - presumably one with a heftier sentence than obstruction? The fact is, he committed a crime by trying to cover up a more serious crime. He was, apparently, successful. But the claim that there was no underlying crime is nonsensical. By that argument, all we can say is that Al Capone was a tax evader - and not a murderous mob boss.

If that's the best they can say for Scooter, then I feel sorry for them.

And whatever became of that "rule of Law" thing that they were so hot for around '98?

4. #2 focus on "obstruction of justice" not the perjury.

Perjury was just the method by which justice was obstructed.

In other words, Scooter stood in the way of the American Justice System. He consciously tried to prevent it from doing its job.

Important to make this point.
