MSNBC: WP Says rOVER's Fate Will Be Known Soon, And He Could Still
be indicted. Doesn't sound like much, I know, but I heard that sort of stuff on CNN earlier. Common theme on t.v. this morning:

1. rOVER is "Official A"
2. rOVER not out of the woods

3. The Reason I Was Somewhat Disappointed...
...was because Rove wasn't indicted. I want this jerk to get his. At least there is still a chance.

4. Rove threw a bone to the Prosecutor at the last minute
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 09:14 AM by DoYouEverWonder
The Prosecutor has no choice but to take that bone and see if there is any meat on it. If there is, Rove is a traitor to the Neocons. If there isn't Rove gets indicted.

6. The strategy they have is to go down swinging.
They have millions of mindless followers and a sycophant press and that's where they are going to take their chances.

7. It's always about their resolve....
Fitzgerald knows if he goes to far he'll be destroyed.

11. My meaning is...
that the Neocon's run our government now as if they were campaigning in West Texas for a county commission seat. There are no rules any more. It is no holds barred politics. There is NO decorum. If Fitzgerald knows anything by now , it's that.

12. So you think Fitz is afraid of being destoryed by the Neocons??
Is that what your statements mean?

13. Ultimately...
Fitzgrald knows he can go just so far and have the same life he now has. The venom runs deep here. Yes, he knows he could be destroyed.

Fitz has gone after mobsters, Osama, and the former Governor of Illinois. Fitz is afraid of no one.

Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 01:46 PM by converted_democrat
that idea?

on edit-- Have you even seen the list of people Fitz has prosecuted in the past? He has the reputation that he has for a reason, he's not someone to mess around with.

18. Actually, I'm thinking that Fitz is now the safest man in the USA
>Yes, he knows he could be destroyed.<

He started a website for a reason. He's now a VERY public figure. The press is cooperating as well -- yesterday's news conference was carried on all major networks and cable. * and his administration are wounded beyond recovery, whether they know it or not.

If there was any way to "swiftboat" Patrick Fitzgerald, it would have already been done. The *ies have nothing on him. They toyed with him, thinking he was another Kenneth Starr. If they smear him now (after his resume has been widely broadcast,) they will only look vindictive, foolish, and even more unsuitable to lead the country.

IMHO.

8. Libby is the "Judas goat" in this allegory.
Libby will lead some of the sheep to slaughter. Maybe a pig or two, also.

10. I don't know what is real, but here is what I think I understand
Early in the week, Fitz' was present in Rove's lawyers' office.

Later in the week it was reported that Rove's lawyers turned down a deal from Fitz.

Fitz' didn't release an indictment of Rove yesterday.

Rove is probably Official A who leaked to Novak.

Rove may have been among those who met with or discussed with Libby what to do about the Wilson problem.

The first two items would confirm that negotiation really was active during the week. One could think Fitz' wouldn't push a hard bargain unless he felt he had something on Rover. One could think that Rove's attorneys wouldn't reject an offer unless they thought they could beat whatever Fitz had. Perhaps they thought they could work a better deal or present yet another angle. A more remote possibility is that they determined to "call" Fitz' to see if he was bluffing.

From what the lawyers leaked it seems that nearing the eleventh hour they presented Fitz with another angle to view Rove's involvement.

The mention of Offical A in the indictment reveals Fitz has worked that path. Making it public in the indictment may or may not be a signal to Offical A that he still has a dog working Offical A's scent.

The mention of Libby's having met with others to determine how to deal with Wilson's doggedness about the "16 words" indicates that Libby and many other's knew Plames identity and role at the CIA, which surely supports the current charges in the indictment.

It also shows what is critically missing for a conspiracy charge and may signal to other people still under scrutiny the sort of information that Fitz' would be interested in dealing on, namely, the ntent of the group in dealing with the Wilson problem.

16. Sometimes when a person is in jeopardy, they agree to wear a wire
Of course, in Rove's high-profile position, and with the secrecy-by-law that attends much of government, it would be a WHOLE lot more complicated than that.

But maybe Rove will actually work with the prosecutors. Maybe he's working with them right now.

More likely, maybe he's pledging to work with them, and pretending to work with them, thinking inwardly all the time, "Of course I'm not REALLY going to help them." If that's the case--if he's faking cooperation--I believe he is in for a BIG hurt.
