Why is Libby on crutches
and was it discussed here that he is a founder of the PNAC? (I think that I got the acronym right...)

5. welll, he is certainly one of their members. if you have not yet seen the
web site (and you have a REALLLLY strong stomach) go to www.newamericancentury.org and look at what they have been up to--including the signatories on the letter sent to bill clinton in 1998 demanding that he invade iraq.

quite a bunch.

9. Ugggh Just seeing the global map is frightening
since when has the U.S. become an empire to stick its boots in every part of the world? I am all for intervention in a case of atrocities, as was with Kosovo and as should be in Darfur. But to just sit in a nice office somepalce and to stick pins all over the globe - this is really the height of arrogance.

Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 12:20 AM by flowomo
He is an avid mountain-biker and played in a regular weekend touch-football game until he broke his foot recently and ended up on crutches.

14. dunno, but Wonkette says:
A loyal reader writes in that Das Scooter has been spotted on a pair of crutches. Alas, there appears to be no photographic confirmation of this at present. Nevertheless, aforementioned loyal reader supplies yet more irresponsible speculation surrounding the Plame case, to wit:

Top 5 reasons Libby on crutches

5. Tried to take out frustrations on family dog and got bitten.

4. Got frustrated and kicked office safe after learning combination changed.

3. Tripped down basement stairs while carrying documents to home shredder.

2. Transparently faking injury in hopeless sympathy plea.

1. Twisted ankle in shower portion of prison orientation tour.

A good start, but we have--in no particular order--more after the jump --HOLLY MARTINS

-Clumsy effort to revive Vin "the Chin" Gigante faked-insanity strategy; plans to greet inquiries in court with the reply "Crutches? What crutches?"

-Veiled message to Judy Miller that her legs will be next

-Coded "lame duck" message to president Bush

-Not injured at all; just irrepressibly proud of new custom-made all-aspen crutches

-Waiver given to future cellmate was in fact "coerced"

-Turns out not as easy to outrun bailifs as he had thought

-Harriet Miers with a tire iron in the parking garage

-Was going to do the hideous-surgery-one-glove Michael Jackson thing, which apparently goes over well with juries, but there wasn't time

-Poignant evening of farewell lovemaking with Vice President Cheney went horribly wrong when they adopted "scissorlock" position

16. well, yeah - but it still doesn't say HOW.
Of course it was an accident, it would be pretty strange if he did it on purpose.

18. New crutches for Irving Stewart "Scooter" Libby.
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 01:25 AM by longship
Take the tips off the crutches and put roller skate wheels on each of them. Then people can really call him scooter.

Remove the bottom of his crutches and replace them with pogo sticks. Each step could then be much bigger but he'll have to watch out for low ceilings.

Have one of those custom biker shops build a Harley engine on an old folks walker. Put twist grip throttles on the handles. No need for brakes. I think 80-90 horses should be sufficient. He ought to be able to top off at about 150 MPH presuming that he can walk that fast.

Put training wheels on the sides of his crutches. That will help him from falling over.

When it starts snowing in DC, exchange the crutch tip with skis, or if icy, ice skate blades.

Just some ideas to help out the poor guy.
