2. He's also genuflecting in front of...
that crappy Senate Intelligence report that lied until nearly the back page. Obviously Tony didn't read the whole thing.

3. Could be a question of semantics
She didn't "send" him, but did she "recommend" him when asked?

It seems certain that she did "introduce" Wilson to others.

Send. Recommend. Introduce.

Fairly subtle difference between all three.

Moreover, you say Plame did not "send" Wilson, the CIA did. But Plame is CIA, so what's the difference?

Most importantly, does it really matter? I fail to see the significance. Sometimes I wish that when the WH said that Plame sent Wilson on the trip, Wilson had simply said: "Yeah, so what? That doesn't excuse you breaking the law by outing her."

10. Nederland- big difference in who sent her.
IWilsonas the one who brought up his name it suggests that she wanted to send Joe because she and he knew in advance that he would not support Cheney. The implication being that husband and wife cooked up the anti-Cheney, anti-war findings because they are partisan.

Valerie IS Not the CIA. She doesn't speak for them- she worked for them. The point being that Darth Veep wanted info. on the yellow cake and went to the CIA. They knew that Wilson had prior connections to Niger- hardly a glamor of vacation spot- and some neutral party other than Plame brought up Joe's name.

I see it as a matter of courtesy and also a matter for vetting for conflict of interest, they asked (likely scenario) Mrs. Wilson, your husbands name has come up in the matter of Niger and yellow cake and he has been recommended to make the trip. Do you see any problem with that from your position as a covert agent, or know of any reason why he should not go, ma'am?

And, she said no reason why he shouldn't.

That's how I see what really happened based on the Fitz indictment which clearly makes this distinction.

>Joseph Wilson and Valerie Plame Wilson

e. Joseph Wilson (“Wilson”) was a former career State Department official who
had held a variety of posts, including United States Ambassador. In 2002, after an inquiry to the CIA
by the Vice President concerning certain intelligence reporting, the CIA decided on its own initiative to send Wilson to the country of Niger to investigate allegations involving Iraqi efforts to acquire uranium yellow cake, a processed form of uranium ore. Wilson orally reported his findings to the CIA upon his return.<

My question, Nederland, is that this is a simple matter and readily explained and even documented by fitz- now why can't we get that message out clearly on the MSM and shut those freep-thugs the heck up?

12. Exactly, Exactly, Exactly!
Your first paragraph, bluedawg.... THAT is what very few people are articulating... It stands to reason that such was the very reason for bringing her name up AT ALL!

14. You are falling for Rove's trap
You've basically got two sources for information: the State Department and the CIA. The State department says that Plame 'recommended' him for the trip. The CIA says Plame wasn't involved in choosing Wilson for the trip beyond 'introducing' him to fellow co-workers. Whose story you believe is entirely arbitrary and depends on who you trust more, the CIA or the State Department. To add even more confusion to the mix it is apparent from Fitzgerald's investigation that not everyone at the CIA even agrees with what the "CIA" is claiming happened.

That being said, I find it odd that this is the first time in my memory that Democrats have ever said that the CIA is telling the truth and the State Department is lying. Add to that the fact that the CIA supports the story that they want to hear and it all looks a little too convenient.

I also note that you didn't answer my question: why does it matter? Regardless of who sent Wilson, the WH lied and outed and agent. Let's not fall for Rove's trap of trying to divert attention away from the crime and toward's a debate that is irrelevant.

11. Blue_Roses--have you noticed that lately Maher is not holding up
his end of the debate? Maybe he just doesn't have the time to research- but if he is going to do a topical show he really should clean their clocks and get the truth out there.

he let the last few conserva-pukes domnate the show, have you noticed that too, or am I over critical of Bill M.?

9. CNN Crowley did a Wilson piece and corrected that old repug lie!
Valerie did not send Joe.

And, Joe in the op ed piece said he went because Darth Veep wanted to know more about the yellow cake- not that DarthVeep sent him personally.

These scumbag RW lying liars need to be tarred and feathered and then made to listen to Ann KKKoulter speeches at high volume for life!

15. Even if she did, SO WHAT?

The GJ investigation is to determine who revealed the identity of a classified CIA operative and whether that disclosure was "innocent reckless or malicious." Period. Joe Wilson is IRRELEVANT!

17. Joe W. is relevant in terms of the war debate because
if they discredit him then they can go back to the claim that the Brits also had the same info. that Iraq was indeed going to Niger to look for unranium. That get's them off the hook for going to war with out cause- that whole smoking mushroom cloud deal was discredited by Joe. And, even after Joe said there was no yellow cake sale in Niger- Darth by pass was still on talk shows insisting that there was a nuclear threat.
