3. It is easier to blindly follow and spout echo chamber mentality...
thus enabling you to feel as if you are part of the process, than to take a critically informed opinion and test it against the waters of Democracy and prepare to be wrong.. It is not meant to be easy, this form of government It requires your time and energy and yes, risk. You must stand and debate ever changing issues with the risk that you may be wrong and confront that with the courage to admit it. Democracy is truly giving of oneself for the greater good. It seems to be so succesful as a governing form, that arrogance and material gain begin to over shadow the inherent need for political discourse, confrontation and true battle with the questions of what is right and wrong, that began the process in the beginning.
Do any of us have the strength to admit defeat of an idea, or step back from a correct thesis that works and give crdit to the collective good?
It is the easy knee jerk reaction, the herd menality, and the arrogance of not being wrong that is an anathema to the Democratic ideal. That is why we have lost this country and are just now gaining it back. The necessary stewardship of individual responsibility has been lost for the current generations involved in this struggle. Let us make a vow to change that and reintroduce the need for involvement that is inherent to our political choice of Democracy.
