Eminent scientist and national knowledge commission Vice-Chairman P M Bhargava today said it was inevitable that science was in direct conflict with religion as one can stick to religion and scientific temper at the same time.
Delivering a lecture on ''science and scientific outlook'', at the atheist Centre here, he said ''religion comprises two issues as it exhorts values and preaches unscientific things.
He said in Central Europe more people died in the Crusades than on any other issue.
Religion has done immense damage to the society more than all the wars, he claimed.
