Why are we all so happy?
Sure the indictments will come out, the administration will be shamed and embarrassed and the shrubs legacy will be the worst since Hoover.
However the impeachments, if they happen at all, will be after the mid-terms and may well stretch into the '08 cycle. The Big Problem will be the legacy the criminal cabal leaves behind.
We have lost any credibility in the world, we're broke, nearly every department in the federal government has been ruined, we have blatantly rigged elections, our public policy is a wholly owned subsidiary of various corporations, our citizenry has seen its income slashed and inflation has brought on crushing debt from which there is no longer any relief. I'm not even going to go into the clusterphuk in Iraq, it is a whole other world of seemingly insurmountable problems that I can't see any good way out of.
What does the future hold? Let's suppose that our fantasy comes true and the Democratic Party takes both houses next year and the executive in '08. What will they do? How can this mess be cleaned up? First thing to do is raise taxes to slow the hemorrhaging, and don't think for a minute that we're going to “soak those rich bastards” to get ours back. The DINO's and remaining repugs will never even let this out of committee, let alone pass. Re-instate the inheritance tax? Not nearly enough. Increase the tax on capital gains? Again, not nearly enough.
I don't know what will, or even can be, done at this point. The sheeple are too brainwashed to allow the defense budget to be slashed the way it should be. The world has passed us by while we danced to the neo-cons tune and we may not be welcomed back.
Well, whaddaya think? Time to tear it all down, time to leave?

1. indictments...
are the first step America must take to regain credibility.

Step one makes me happy. It doesn't mean there aren't a mountain of steps still to take. It means the journey is FINALLY starting.

And raise sheep.

4. I'm not happy, I'm pissed !
I'm angry that this administration has come down to this. Am I glad that they got caught, yes. But, they shouldn't have been doing this in the first place. This is OUR country, not just theirs.

I love a road trip!

You know, a little justice just wets the whistle for a little more justice.

We knew that BushCo was lying and hurting this country. When we tried to warn people (including family and close friends), we were called conspiracy theorists, delusional, sore losers (about Gore, then Kerry), anti-American, anti-Christian, unpatriotic, partisan hacks, crazy liberals, liars, radical left-wingers, communists, Nazis, etc.

And now the whole country knows ...

WE WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG!!!

15. Yes we were. Unfortunately we all are going to pay the price, not just
the morans that voted for this scumbag. Personally I'm OK with the idea of kicking the red States out, just give me 6 months to move. Let those bastards pay their own fucking way for once.

7. May I suggest...
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 07:22 PM by Amonester
Raising a "special" tax on ALL stock-trading sales everywhere on this planet where there's a stock-exchange market, and use these new (huge) funds to actually "SAVE" this planet... I'd say make it the next urgent priority... Make the richest pay for restoring all the destruction they profit from! Besides, if the current (and future) destruction of this little planet we breathe on isn't stopped, and proper restoration policies aren't enacted, these super-riches won't survive (let's all "scare" them while telling -- or SREAMING -- to them that inevitable TRUTH if they refuse to PAY THEIR DUE SHARE!)

After all, I bet they wouldn't even notice any drop in their 'bourgeoisian' life-styles...

Other good ideas welcomed!

16. Hell, I'd support siezing assets, but I don't think many others would
and certainly not the politiwhores in D.C.
No, I'm afraid the $ is gone just like the pensions, S&L's, etc.
I wonder if we are even the market we once were? Do you think a corporation would give up this market if we tried something like that? 5 years ago I'd have been certain, today I'm not so sure...

We can dream, however. Of course the plan would imply the fact that people who value TRUE honesty first and foremost (ummm... the 'Fitzmas' types ;) would have to gain the 'political & economic' power such a massive 'revolution-to-save-this-planet' will demand... one of these days (we hope, or... doom?). It will have to be implemented on a 'global' scale so nobody in cahoots with the current 'neocon rulers' could succeed at proving it's not done for greed and to the benefit of a few...

Alright, we're a very, very long way from home... But saving this wonderful planet (if honest people would take the lead) is our only (collective) chance...

Time is running away... every single day, hour, minute, second, millisecond, microsecond, picosecond... Arrrg!!

18. Yes it is. Another reason I'm glad I never wanted children. One minor
point, the planet will be fine no matter what we do, it's just the life on it that will be affected.

19. Earth will still be there until the sun blows up. Even after...
that, it might turn into loose hot molecules... but even if I don't have kids myself (personal choice too) doesn't mean I can't feel we have to do something (collectively again) for the life (present and future) of all other people's children and childrens' childrens, and so on.

How about writing to the UN (hope they'll kick Bullton out first!!)!!

13. Didn't mean to imply you/we shouldn't be happy, just that cleaning up the
unbelievable mess they're leaving is going to be very painful and will take much longer to get out of than it took to get in.

12. Good point... there are so many places that need attention

1. Balanced Budget (actually need a substantial Surplus)
2. Jobs / Outsourcing
3. Progressive Tax policies
4. Health Care
5. Military / Industrial Complex
6. Foreign Relations
7. Energy
8. Environment.
9. Social Security.

The list is long. The problems are large in each area.

But my biggest concern is Energy and Environment and World Population. If we don't fix those three, somehow... the rest won't
matter in a very few years (10 or 20, maybe less).

14. Exactly. I've just been thinking about how whoever gets in there
next is likely to get the blame for the painful healing process that is to follow, if it can be healed at all.

20. If they still have the voting machines, we will not win in the
midterms or in 08.

But, it does feel good to see a something like a public accounting -- even if it is mostly ceremony.

Ceremony is important. :)
