3 reason's why 85% of republicans will always accept the Bush/Cheney lies
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 06:57 PM by Zinfandel
1) Most republicans don't care, because they voted for Bush/Cheney on single issues...Abortion, or Gay marriage, or tax cuts, or Bush is a "Christian", none of these issues have changed in their minds, so continue to support Bush/Cheney.

2) If Cheney tells a bald-face lie, most republicans, won't believe it, simply because they are ONLY in tune with the same republican owned television media, Fox, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, Talk radio, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. & the right-wing print media ...

When Cheney tells the lie, these same talking heads report the lie as truth, while also pointing the finger at those dastardly democrat's, as trying to "get" Cheney, and the republicans, as the excuse why. Most republicans are completely satisfied with hearing it from their talking heads as truth, so to continue to support.

3) BushCo knows most republicans are racist, greedy, homophobic, selfish, narcissistic people like themselves, imperialist at heart, money and power being the most import thing in life to them. So as long as BushCo tells a lie, any lie, (just get the lie out there), it gives the greedy repugs an excuse, an augment and reason to justify (in their own minds) why they will continue to support this blatantly corrupt lying administration.

I'm sure there's a few other reason one could come up with, like complete disdain for the democrats, not being about to face or accept the facts, that they were wrong, etc. etc...

3. In Other Words
They can't be dissuaded from believing the lies because they WANT to believe the lies.

7. Pretty much, that is what it all comes down too. Believing the lies
validates their selfish votes, which they don't see as selfish votes. repugs' *logic* makes my head hurt

11. Agreed. Every human being tends to believe what we WANT to believe.
All of us. Much of what education is all about is developing skills to overcome this tendency and gain some degree of objectivity.

5. Some who I've had the displeasure to run across, feel like they are
part of a "revolution" to take back the country from the immoral liberals who are threatening them and their families personally. They don't believe anything the media says unless it confirms what they already predetermined mindset. Bush, to them, is a "man of God" and is here to rescue the country from the heathens from Hollywood and, of course, the gay threat. Openmindedness is not something these people care about because they have God on their side and are convinced of their mission. Sad but true.

6. Where are you getting that statistic.
I have a difficult time believing that 85% of Republicans still support Bush.

Hell, I'm in Mississippi, and I can name 10 Republicans right off the bat who hate him now.
