"Former homosexual" to host Biblical "straight talk" radio show
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 02:39 PM by Bluebear

"Ex-gay" Stephen Bennett

Contact: Amanda Sova, Director of Media Relations for Straight Talk Radio, 203-926-6960

HUNTINGTON, Conn. Oct. 25 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Stephen and Irene Bennett, husband and wife, founders of Stephen Bennett Ministries, Inc., announce the launching of their national radio program, Straight Talk Radio, scheduled to debut in eight states on October 31.

Formerly a daily one-minute public service announcement running on numerous Christian and Conservative radio stations, Straight Talk Radio has been "revamped" into a new, lively, daily half-hour program.

To listen to Straight Talk Radio's 30 second trailer and show intro, please click on the links: http://www.straighttalkradio.org/commercials/trailer1.mp3 and http://www.straighttalkradio.org/commercials/showintro1.mp3

Straight Talk Radio is one of the very first – if not the first – daily, national Conservative Christian radio programs to deal exclusively with the number one, most controversial issue facing our culture today - homosexuality.

"Straight Talk Radio will feature the most outspoken guests, tackle tough issues and host very lively debates, while injecting a blend of adrenaline, compassion and a bit of humor," said Stephen. "When Irene and I get behind the microphones, watch out. There's no telling what's going to happen. That's what makes Straight Talk Radio so exciting and unique."

Irene replied, "I believe Straight Talk Radio is going to catch on like wildfire  and resonate with many individuals worldwide. We are going to educate, encourage, engage and equip people to understand this extremely important issue. I can easily see several hundred new radio stations within a year's time. We are already discussing syndication with a major radio network. There just is no other radio program out there like this."

What makes Straight Talk Radio even more unique are the hosts themselves.

Stephen Bennett is a former homosexual who abandoned his 11-year promiscuous homosexual lifestyle, along with a long term homosexual relationship, after becoming a Christian in 1992. Irene, who became a Christian in the 80's, was never involved in homosexuality. Fully knowing Stephen's past, Irene accepted Stephen's proposal for marriage in 1993 without any reservations.

Today, happily married over 12 years with two beautiful little children, the Bennetts travel and speak worldwide, educating people on the truths of homosexuality and dispelling many of the myths and misinformation promoted by homosexual activists and organizations.

In the last year and half alone, Stephen and Irene have spoken at over 75 events worldwide - from churches, television interviews and debates, to major conferences and national rallies.

In the next two weeks alone, the Bennetts are scheduled to speak in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Texas and Canada.

While the Bennett's primarily minister full-time as evangelists to the homosexual community and provide support for their families, the couple firmly believes they have a dual calling.

Stephen and Irene publicly and unashamedly address the issues of homosexuality, the homosexual agenda, and its effects on our children and culture.

"We have two little kids who are growing up in a very different world than we did as children. I bring to the table the undeniable truth that I was not born homosexual, and that homosexual men and women can completely change," said Stephen.

Stephen, Irene and Straight Talk Radio: the Perfect Match

"Stephen and Irene were meant for radio. Depending on 'which side of the fence' you are on, you'll either love 'em or hate 'em. With each broadcast, you will never know if you'll be laughing, crying or simply in shock at what's really going on in our culture," said Amanda Sova, Director of Media Relations for Straight Talk Radio. "As a couple, the Bennetts are extremely educated and articulate on the issues and compliment each other so well. Straight Talk Radio will address timely headlines dealing with a wide gamut of topics, stories, compelling testimonies, intriguing interviews and lively debates on the homosexual issue from a pro-family perspective. The program will also offer hope and encouragement to those struggling, as well as providing support and resources for family members, loved ones and friends."

The Bennetts say they will finally have their 'uncensored voice' to proclaim the truth about homosexuality, educate individuals and confront the homosexual agenda and its proponents head on – by a man who's been on ‘both sides' of the fence.

"For the last 13 years my husband has been repeatedly told he does not exist. As my loving husband and the wonderful father of our two children, I tell you Stephen does exist - and I am proud and humbled to be his wife. Stephen is a living testimony to the life changing power of Jesus Christ," Irene said.

Stephen replied, "I'm very excited about Straight Talk Radio. I can guarantee you, this will not be a dull show by any means, nor will we be whacking people over the head with the Bible. Make no mistake though, God's Word will boldly go forth. We're going to tackle many issues and stories few would dare to touch, even injecting a bit of the 'Bennett' humor (never though at the expense of any individual, well except maybe myself.)"

Straight Talk Radio will debut on one of the largest 50,000 watt Christian AM stations in America, KLTT 670 AM in Denver, CO, part of the Crawford Broadcasting Network. Other radio stations interested in carrying the program can call Straight Talk Radio at (203) 926-6960.

Irene said, "Ultimately, Straight Talk Radio's main purpose is to bring truth, hope, healing and education to all those who listen - through glorifying Jesus Christ."

Straight Talk Radio will also stream daily worldwide on demand at www.StraightTalkRadio.org.

19. He came and spoke at our college once.
I remember him. It was a really controversial chapel (required attendance three days a week), and many people were really upset afterwards. You know why they were mad, though? Many at that evangelical college were mad that he said people couldn't be born gay and that they can be changed back to straight with counselling and small groups. Most people I talked with afterwards thought he was a fraud (or at the best, bi-sexual) and a dangerous one at that. He was never invited back.

And that we really shouldn't think anything bad about the fact that the show's theme song is "It's Raining Men".

This is just so much horseshit. Either this guy is in serious denial, and is going to have a major breakdown real soon, or he was just dabbling around a bit before he decided he was straight. Either way, I don't think he is a good role model or has any basis with which to speak.

On their front page:

"Debuting Monday, October 31st."

"You can help SBM proclaim the truth about one of the most important and controversial topics of our day: homosexuality. Why not prayerfully consider SPONSORING the weekly program on your Christian Radio Station? Your sponsorship is 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE and could help reach MILLIONS worldwide, and THOUSANDS in your immediate area!

This goes beyond mere hypocrisy. The kind of "hope" these people offer is toxic, smothering, and very corrosive to the families who embrace it.

They feed off the carnage they sow.

BUT there are those few who are bisexuals, or gay/lesbian that happen to find someone of the opposite sex that they are comfortable with. That is what happened to me. I am a lesbian. Yet I have a boyfriend. Most people dont understand this, and call me bisexual. But I am not attracted to other men at all. If it dosent work out (but I sooo hope it does) I will go back to women, and thats that.

So that could have been what happened to him... BUT I think it was mostly brainwashing from the church that has forced him to deny his true feelings, and get married and have kids. I was a fundie at one time, and thats what they did to me. I even dated another "ex-gay" guy (in a sham relationship that meant nothing to both of us). He is now once again gay, and so am I.

The sad thing is that the media only shows these "ex-gay" people and never people like you and this guy you knew who tried it and it didn't work. If the country is going to have a serious discussion about this we should hear all points and let people decide for themselves about the issue. I remember a few months ago CNN had a special about Christian therapy gay groups and they featured three different people. One guy claimed he was now straight but people here at DU said he slipped up and said he thought about guys instead of girls and than they had someone else who went through the program but didn't change and they had a boyfriend and did community social work and still went to church with their boyfriend. Oh and I hope things work out for whatever is best for you.

70. Well....
One thing: Me and this guy- still together. He's a mod here, knows my past, and introduced me to this site.

I know some churches (like the one at my school, USC ) that open gay people with open arms. the pastor is a woman who is currently dating another woman. She has this whole explination why its okay to be gay and Christian. I didnt really understand it, but I come from a fundie background. (not a fundie anymore)

66. I have no proof but I believe it is easier for a lesbian to do this than a
gay person.

68. I dont know
I know that many women are more open sexually than males, tho. Look at the number of bisexual women versus bisexual men.

59. Straight radio?
So what's everybody else who's straight radio? Gay? I guess someone should tell that to Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly. :eyes:

64. The sad thing is this is dangerous, not harmless stuff at all. If this
guy was gay or bisexual he is still gay or bisexual and he is living a lie. He may also be sneaking around engaging in risky behavior - putting his health and his wife's health in danger - not to mention setting up the kids for a huge emotional trauma when they find out who their daddy really is.

If the guy was never gay or bisexual then he is just a liar and a fraud.

Either way, he is at the least a scumbag.

67. In the end with this guy
Only he knows the truth either way. And if he is a fraud than that's sin too. Lying and cheating people is wrong too whether you're a Christian or not.

71. I'd love to live
in that dream world where homosexuality is the "number one issue our culture faces." A culture in which there is no energy crisis, in which we are not looking straight into the black hole of imminent economic collapse, and numerous other earth shattering issues.
