It's a potent tribute for such a sad day.

36. I kept thinking of the DU posts from the other day
that listed all the names. Damn that was one long list and every time Byrd said "2000" I remembered that list and it broke my heart. My neighbor dropped by during the speech and ended up in tears. My husband heard the "2000" and said it was a stab in his heart because it brought of memories for him of the 2000 election and how our country has been slipping away from us ever since.

He's telling it like it is!

"What a shame, what a shame. What a mistake, what a mistake. What a mistake, what a shame. In this Senate....Congress made a mistake in 2002" giving * power to declare war.

If he can't get through to someone with the truth then that person is truly lost. He is such a powerful speaker, a true orator and he speaks from the heart and tells the truth, what a rare commodity these days.

31. He Kicked Some Major Butt!
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 03:29 PM by Hubert Flottz
And every republican they pointed the camera toward in the chamber, had that look on their faces like they had just pinched a loaf in their panties, while Mr Byrd was speaking! A frown is just a shit eating grin turned upside down. The truth is like throwing Holy Water on a red hot Devil, when you remind the GOP what hypocrites they REALLY are.

Republican, studio enhanced, "MORALITY," is nothing more than a decaying piece of strong arm, brownshit, propaganda, and Robert C. Byrd just hit them in their guilty looking faces, with their own droppings. That speech will remain in the record, to warn and to remind, everyone in future generations, how low the country can be dragged down and disgraced, by scumbags and fools, like George W Bush and his gang of cutthroats and liars.

The W in George W Bush, stands for Wickedness, the exact opposite of "MORALITY" and Robert Byrd in his eighties is one of the few and the proud, who cares about his country enough to defend it against the real menace in the White House.

The Devil left a better "legacy" than W, is constructing for himself, with his continuing reign of evil, arrogance, selfishness and greed. Bobby Byrd is a heavy hitter and he has never failed to step up to the plate, for that little book in his breast pocket. He is one of the very few reasons left, that still makes me proud to be a Mountaineer and an American.

Robert Byrd is an Eagle and Bush truly is a Primate, in the long great chain, of US political evolution and statesmanship. Robert Byrd makes Bush look exactly like the ape, that he really is and the republicans despise Mr. Byrd for being the great patriot that he indeed is.

Oh man, that was incredible. Byrd hit the nail on the head, again. He's right. My neighbor dropped by while Byrd was speaking and ended up tears.

He shows just how strong the truth can be.

37. I'd like to thank you ladies for the kind very words.
Robert Byrd seems as heartbroken as you and I, about the sad state of the Union. Anyone who truly loves the country could not do the foul things the Republicans in Washington have done. Almost every member of the GOP in Washington really should be very ashamed. Like a row of ducks behind Bush for five years, the GOP on Capitol Hill have much to answer to the American people for. They have even robbed the unborn, to reward the wealthy.

34. Very sad, the fruits of Bush's Hellish labors.
I saw something the other day that put the amount of money we have spent in Iraq into perspective. If you click on this link below and type in the information they require, you will find out some very interesting things about yourself. I was amazed to notice that I myself, as of my birthday October 13th, was 1,768,327,591 seconds old, or just a few hundred million seconds less than two billion. That's 55 years. The GOP has spent over two hundred billion dollars in Iraq, with no end in sight.
