CNN is still sticking to their story that 2,000 troops are dead.
All other sources are saying that it is 1,999. Raw story earlier reported that CNN had retracted their figures on the story, but I am watching it right now and it is right on the screen:2,000 troops killed.

1. Look for Cindy at the White House
she said she'd chain or tie herself to the WH fence when the casualty rate hits 2000.

3. Do you think they will show that on MSM???
I am going to a vigil for troops on the day after the toll hits 2,000 and it seems that the media is confusing the issue.

2. They were doing a story about what happens when we reach 2k dead.
As far as I know they are still reporting the 1998 number as actual.

9. with the suicide number growing every day
the number is really huge. I think that the suicide issue has not been addressed enough. I would really like to know how to find out about suicides from returning soldiers. I'm not sure where to begin and it seems a daunting task.

7. Hey? where are all the celebrations?
In several editorials, LTTE and opinion pieces in three papers, I saw the pre-emptive attack on moderates, liberals and those against the war.

All had the same bottom line - we are celebrating us hitting 2,000.

It looks like this was yet another organized national campaign to attack those who question this president and his policies.

Those bastards.

U.S. military death toll in Iraq reaches 2,000
Iraqi draft constitution passes, election officials say

Tuesday, October 25, 2005; Posted: 12:17 p.m. EDT (16:17 GMT)

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The war in Iraq saw two milestones Tuesday that reflect the country's path to democracy and its human toll as officials said the referendum on a draft constitution passed and the U.S. military's death toll reached 2,000.

CNN's count of U.S. fatalities reflects reports from military sources and includes deaths in Iraq, Kuwait and other units assigned to the Iraq campaign.

Among the latest casualties, an American soldier was killed Saturday by a roadside bomb, and a roadside blast killed two Marines in combat Friday near Amariya in the western Anbar province, according to the U.S. military.

Since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, more than 15,000 American service members have been wounded in the conflict, according to the Defense Department.

According to CNN's tally, 2,194 coalition troops have died in the war. <snip>

12. I wish
The more than 15,000 wounded number was played up more in the media. The percentage of wounded that die from their wounds is down significantly for this war. But how many long term wounded is the true cost of the war.
